Brides who tried on a lot of Ballgowns - need your help! :)
I tried on a dress last night that was amazing! It fit me perfectly (although the embellishments weren't 'it', the dress was). The shop I went to ripped tags out and refused to tell me who manufactured it. Needless to say,I will be sifting through thousands of gowns in hopes to find something similar. It was a ballgown that had box pleats in the front with tighter, smaller pleats in the back. The bodice I think had boning, and was fitted through to the hips (it didn't stop at the waist), and made me look very skinny! LOL The strapless had a soft sweetheart shape to it, which looked much better on me than the straight strapless. Oh well. Hopefully I can find something similar, I was so upset and worried that I wouldn't find something like it.
If anyone has tried on something like the description, can you please let me know if you happen to know the designer and any information to help me find it? Thanks!

I've never heard of a shop that ripped out the tags....I don't know what your budget is, but if you can, go to Klienfelds, they just moved into the city (they used to be in Brooklyn), but the women who work there are so good at what they do, they'll be able to show you styles similiar to the one you are talking about, and you won't have to go searching....good luck....

It was satin, I went to Bridal Couture of Manhasset. The woman who worked with me was very very nice, and she suggested I try on that dress. I just cannot buy a dress when I'm purposely not being told who manufactured it.

Based on the fact that you saw it at Bridal Couture, I agree with the suggestion to go to Klienfelds or Bridal Salon of Manhasset, because they carry the more upscale gowns. Also, you can try to do a ballgown search on theknot or weddingchannel for satin ballgowns in that particular price range. It will narrow down the search and probably help you find it!

A lot of stores do that now because people go to their stores, try on dresses and order them online for less money. In a way, I can’t blame them for doing that.

I'd try Kleinfeld. It sounds like an Eve of MiladyETA: At Kleinfeld if you describe it to them they can probably bring you the exact dress w/in 5 minutes. They're SO good/

I can, that's obnoxious and poor business practice. How do you know they aren't ripping you off then. This whole wedding racket stinks!
ps: I bought my dress for over $800 cheaper than when I originally saw it for.

I would be pissed off too, don't get me wrong. I'm just trying to look at it from their perspective. They’re resorting to a pretty extreme measure. They’re probably losing a ton of business… why else would they rip the tags out? You know.

I flat out told her that I was very sorry, she is very nice and helpful, but she just wasted an hour and a half on me because she refused to tell me who manufactured it. It wasn't the saleswomans fault, but I told that I cannot do business with a store that willingly withholds information from it's customers, and not providing them the necessary information to make a complete assesment. It's a scam, they try to get you to purchase something without disclosing the full information of the quality, product, etc.
I don't care how much cheaper I can get it elsewhere, if I'm getting good service, i will most likely purchase it there. If they are blantantly lying to me, then I cannot trust them, it's as simple as that. It's ridiculous to expect people to fork over over a grand to find out who designed their dress.
Wow, this turned into a long rant. I'm sorry, I'm just frustrated. :(

I worried about the time frame on this. Kleinfeld is moving to the city in July, and I woudl like to wait until them to visit, but then I'm worried that I'm not making that 'order you dress by X date' mark. My wedding is scheduled for June, but I've been telling the bridal shops May, in case something happens, I have a few weeks buffer.

I completely agree...if they're concerned about losing business, they should make their prices more competitive and offer excellent customer service.
