did any of you have to word your invites around a sticky situation?
my FH was raised by his aunt and uncle. (his mom's sister)his mother is invited to the wedding along with her husband of course.
My dad is paying for a lot of our wedding so I will definitely have his name on the invite. Only I wanted to honor his aunt and uncle without offending his biological mother. any ideas on invite wording?

Re: did any of you have to word your invites around a sticky situation?
My situation was a little complicated and I think what we did may help you. DH's dad is dead and was never in his life. His mom has a live-in boyfriend of 10 years who contributed to our HM (which was MIL's wedding gift to us) but DH does not consider him like a father. We decided to acknowledge him in the invite and said:Mr. & Mrs. B-H (my parents)
together with
Ms. KM & Mr. JL (FH mom and her boyfriend)
request the honour of your presence at the marriage of
me
to
Rob
No mention of 'our children,' son, daughter, etc. Would that help?
Sorry so long!

Re: did any of you have to word your invites around a sticky situation?
that does help.only I'm not sure if they are contributing. they haven't come out and told us they were paying for anything. I just wanted to honor them and name them on the invite.
The more and more I think about this the more I think I should just leave my Dad's name and that's it.
Thanks for the wording sample though, that was helpful

You could just do your parent's names because you're the bride. That way you could blame it on 'etiquette' and nobody gets hurt??

I can totally sympathize with your situation, I had wording problems of my own because of a divorce situation and wanting to honor people etc.I'm sorry I have no great advice, but just wanted to say I know it can be tough!!

If you go and look at invite books sometimes there are tabs in the front with 'alternate wording'They give you examples of how to word invites for every possible situtation
