Please tell me if this sounds right..feel free to make any changes for me

I am sending out save the date magnets but i wanted to include a letter/note type thing too-how does this sound, dont worry about making me feel bad... i need the help

As we approach our wedding date, we wanted to tell you how much we hope you will come to our wedding to witness our becoming one. Please know how grateful we are to have your love and support throughout the years. We truly hope you will join us in our celebration.

The wedding will take place on beautiful Long Island, New York. Since it will be Fourth of July weekend, we encourage you to make this trip a great vacation, especially if you haven’t been to New York lately. If you are planning to extend your visit to see a Broadway show or to tour Manhattan, please keep in mind all wedding activities will take place on Long Island, which is approximately 40 miles from New York City. In addition, there are many activities on Long Island which you may enjoy, such as the very popular wineries.

imo - the note isn't necessary. teh std shoudl serve the purpose of reminding people that the wedding is close so they can plan accordingly.

So you dont think i should include the note, cause the purpose of the note in my head was to give them options of things to do...

and a realized that the magnets i ordered never said the wedding of...

i think i may still be able to add info though

the purpose of the std is to announce your wedding, if however, the std does not mention the wedding on it, you can add a short note letting people know.

i think the idea behind the std is to make people aware of the wedding so they can plan accordingly. i wouldn't add a note if i was sending out std's.

i realize i'm contradicting myself here, but if you don't mention the wedding on the actual std, people are going to want to know what they are saving the date for.

I dont think the note is necessary. You should put all this info on your website, and on your std, you should say something like:

For more information. please visit our wedding website at
www.*******.com

i actually disagree. mine has even more info than you did re: hotel accomodations, activities, websites, etc.

these are things i don't want to 'wait' till the invites and it also gets people excited about your wedding.

if they are staying over, the need to book soon and play tickets and other activities can get booked up really fast.

i think your note is perfect and would most definitely include it. remember, not everyone has internet so it's best to give as much info as possible!

ps - you will share a wedding date with my best friend!

When you send the STD, people will realize that it is for your wedding. If you want, write formal wedding invitation to follow... although I don't think you need it.
Perhaps you want to make up a pamphlet about New York and Long Island. Put different tourist attractions, as well as hotel information in it. I would send this separately from the STD. In the envelope, you then might want to place a personal note to your friends and family.

i believe that more info is better than none. do you have alot of OOT'ers?

i get questions all the time about where they are staying, what there is to do. i just don't think that your note is so 'unnecessary'... just include it!

I think the note is a great idea for out of town guests. For people that live locally you probably don't have to send the note...they'll figure out what the magnet is for (at least I would hope so!)

yes that true, i wonder if i can just have the company i ordered from add it, they didnt email me a sample yet... what can i add to make them know it is a wedding

include the note. it is a very personal touch that, if I received it, would make me feel closer to you as the couple- like we really are sharing in something intimate and special.

shoot, send them a welcome package if you want. each of our weddings are expressions of how we are- you obviously like a personal touch- that's awesome. Go with it!

I am sending a note also to out of town guests...but I am including hotel information for those who like to plan ahead...If you want to include a note do it, but I think in your case the STD may be enough.

We're doing magnets too, and we are also sending out a little letter, but VERY brief. Mainly we wanted to include full names somewhere since we didn't want them on the magnets. Figured some distant cousins may get confused otherwise. I also had a separate piece of paper with all the hotel info.

ETA: I think the wording sounds nice.
