Re: July 3, 2006 Brides
Speaking of our weddings.. when are you guys leaving for your HM? We are probably going to wait until the 5th, cause my dad isn't too keen on us travelling by air on the 4th. He's so paranoid!

I am finding the HM the roughest part! I want to go on a cruise but they all leave on the weekend, so we will probably do Disney and fly the fourth so we get to see their firework show and then go on the 7 night cruise which leaves Sat!

I'd like to leave late on the fourth. But we will see, we haven't sat down with a travel agent yet.

Re: July 3, 2006 Brides
Hey!I was having the hardest time choosing a date ..we had some complications with someone my FH wanted in the wedding (he could not attend a Fri night or Saturday wedding because of religious reasons) and I refused to have a Sunday unless I knew everyone had off the next day from work. My sister (MOH) actually came up with the idea for the 3rd and it was perfect.
I am so excited because it really makes it
different and allows for partying all weekend!!!
Since there seems to be no one else on this board that is getting married at the Garden City Hotel my date is the only thing I am sharing with LIW brides!!!
I have really started to get into planning my wedding so feel free to vent and/or share ideas with me!

Re: July 3, 2006 Brides
I love our date!!!!!!!!!!! We get a great price (Monday night) and our guests don't have to worry about work the next day, so they can party their behinds off :) I still don't know about our honeymoon. I told my Fiance, let's put it off till August and he looked at me like I was crazy, but I was just trying to save us some money. July prices are crazy!!!!! Anyways, I'm leaning towards a cruise to Mexico. I love cruises!!!! I'm still looking for a photographer, dj, florist, videographer. I have a lot to do
Did you ladies get any price breaks for these vendors being that the wedding is on a Monday?

Re: July 3, 2006 Brides
I really didn't get any breaks on the other vendors because we have a Monday wedding date. They charge the usual, but I did have a hook with our florist (and I love my MOH for this one! I can never thank her enough!)HM is up to FH... I really don't mind where we go, anywhere is better than here. I keep joking that if it's up to me (and how I hate to blow a lot of money on myself...) we would be going to Mystic CT! Not the honeymoon destination we had in mind.. hehe.
One of the 05 brides (eogara) went on an awesome mediterranean cruise and now I want that, but FH doesnt want to be all 'touristy' on HIS HM.. haha
And they say brides are bad?!
I asked if I was allowed to come on HIS HM... he said maybe

The DJ was actually a little harder since it was July fourth weekend and alot of people have parties then. I still have to do dresses, florist, choose a church and limos! YIKES!

Re: July 3, 2006 Brides
I went to tri county today and the guy that worked there asked me when my wedding date was. I told him july 3 of next year. He gestured as to say I'm crazy for looking at veils and tiaras a year away. Anyways, it's along story with that cranky guy. I'm on the same pace as you. I really want to have everything done by the end of August. Good luck.

Re: July 3, 2006 Brides
So far I have been getting incredible price breaks becuase it is a Monday wedding.I think the key is that you have to go into the negotiation with these vendors knowing that it is an odd day and you expect a deal. I did that with my bands and I was getting quotes for $1500-$2500 less then a Saturday.
You also have to be aware that this weekend is really the only weekend that people can have a Monday wedding so it is rare for these vendors to be able to have a 4th event--so they are more willing to work with budgets.
I still haven't fully decided on a band or a dj, but I know for sure that I am not paying full price for either one. My wedding is Monday night so DJ's can do parties in the daytime and have plenty of time to be ready for my 8pm reception time. I will more then likely have a string quartet playing at my cocktail hour.
Be strong with these vendors ..you really have the upper hand! Good luck.

364 more days to go
Me and my fiance were excited yesterday. We were like around this time next year we will be getting ready, walking down the aisle, saying I do, etc. It hit me that I'll have to start signing my name differently. I wonder how long it will take me to get used to. Especially at work where everyone calls me Ms. V.
