Bars in the city--Repost from BHB

I'm going BM dress shopping on Friday with 6 girls at RKBridal, which is near Times Square (and Herald Square). Forget the dresses, I can't figure out where to go out after. Originally, I was thinking with that location, there's a ton of places. But, when I thought about it, I realized that I tend to go to places that are somewhat removed from such popular, hot-spots as Times or Herald Square. I think I've got dinner down, but does anyone have any suggestions for some laid back bars in the area? Trendy is okay, but overpriced drinks just for cool lighting is not okay. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks so much!
