Questions about Thank You cards

My first post on the Newlywed board! I had a couple of questions regarding thank you cards.

1) We are planning to send thank you cards to everyone who came to our wedding, whether or not they got us a gift. A couple of our guests had asked us where we were registered, but we have not gotten anything, so should we go ahead and send a thank you card to thank them for coming? Or should we wait a little bit more? Not that we're expecting everyone to get us gifts, but these particular people did ask about where we were registered.

2) If we did send thank you cards to thank people for coming, and then we got gifts from them, I'm assuming we have to send them another thank you card for the gift, right?

Thanks so much!!!

Edited to say: sorry if we seem like we're being greedy. We're really not, which is why we are sending everyone thank you cards whether or not they gave us gifts. I'm just asking about the etiquette in a very specific situation because a couple of people had asked about registries...

I would thank those people for coming to the wedding (you'll never know if or when you'll actually get a gift) once they send you a gift then send a note thanking them (maybe not the same TY card with your picture since they have that already)

To be on the safe side, send a TY card to anyone who came and/or brought a gift.

Sorry if my response was confusing!!!

Re: Questions about Thank You cards

No, no, it makes perfect sense. Thanks so much! It definitely makes a lot to sense to send a different thank you card to anyone who got us gifts after we sent them thank you cards for coming.

Re: Questions about Thank You cards

If you receive gifts after you send your 'official' thank you cards, you should still send another one after the gift arrives.

It doesn't have to be the same type of card. But, just a quick acknowledgement of the gift.
