Birth control pill question! Help!
Has anyone ever skipped the placebo pills and just go right into taking your next pack of pills in order to skip a period? I've never done that before but just realized I should have my period on my honeymoon!! I hear this is safe, but what are the side effects??

Re: Birth control pill question! Help!
I had to do it two times to make sure I am period free for the wedding night and honeymoon!!! I am fine! As long as you don't do it often it's ok!

I would talk to your doctor. I have done it because i was going on vacation, but I had some spotting throughout the month. I would def ask your doc about it.

Re: Birth control pill question! Help!
I've done it with orthotricyclin. You should do it twice to offset you period so you are free of it for your wedding night and honeymoon (like someone else said). Also, if you do it twice beforehand, then more likely you won't have spotting around your wedding and honeymoon.. The first couple times you do it you might spot, but after that it usually doesn't happen.

I've done it a few times. It's no big deal... just don't do it every month!! Enjoy!

Re: Birth control pill question! Help!
I need to do it to, but my insurance company is a pain in the
and won't pay until every 30 days, so I have to see if I can get a sample pack or someting.

Re: Birth control pill question! Help!
I have done that before... My Dr recommended for me to do that for 6 months .. I don't recall any side affects from skipping the 'sugar' pills...Just remember everyone has different side affects....

Re: Birth control pill question! Help!
i did it recently and i skipped my period for about 4 days only- and then i had it (not too heavy though) for almost 4 weeks straight! It was awful but worth it cause I didnt have it the weekend i didnt want it and also I wont have it for honeymoon anymore ( yes i figured it out and i would have had it for it )

Re: Birth control pill question! Help!
Just make sure you do it far enough in advance from the wedding. When you double up on it they say you 'spot' for a while - 'Spotting' is totally the wrong word - it can be heavy and it can go on for a long time.

Re: Birth control pill question! Help!
i've done this more than once, on various pills, and have never had a problem. but our bodies are all different, so i'd make a quick phonecall to the gyno just to make sure...

Re: Birth control pill question! Help!
Hey! I'm getting married the day before you and had the same exact problem! I did call my doctor, although I didn't talk to her I did talk to the nurses and they told me I can skip up to 3 months. There is always a chance of spotting.I had it all planned out but some how messed it up and was going to get my period the same time as you during my honeymoon, so I was intending to just skip one month and then realized that would leave me getting it the week of my wedding. In the end I skipped two months and got it for the first time after two months in July. I was very lucky and did not have any spotting at all! But make sure you take it on time everyday. I think that helped me a lot. Oh and I forgot to add when I did get my period in July it was normal. Not too long, I would say maybe even a bit lighter than usual.
Good luck!!!

Re: Birth control pill question! Help!
Yes, the only issue is the insurance thing, you would have to buy an extra pack out of pocket.also, the period you get on the pill is artificial anyway, you dont really need to have it.
i read somewhere that when they were first developing the pill in the 50's/60's you didnt get your period at all. but the women who where testing it said they felt 'un-womanly' to not have a period at all. which is now why they tell you to take a week off to get your period.
but i would do the week off now, not the week of the wedding.
i love the pill! when else can you plan your period!
