Vent- had to take my car in for service!
I thought is was so nice when the dealership called to tell me it was time to get my car inspected- I said ok plus I need a oil change- usually $120 ( you get one every 10,000 miles)So I drop my car off this morning for the inspection and what they call serive B- the total is $450
Service A was only $175 ( $120 if which was the oil change)
what the hell! I am going to give them a piece of my mind when I pick it up-I want them to detail out service B
then the guy has the nerve to say serivice is free on 2004s - and since I have a 2005 I have to pay
I told him I should have got the BMW- they still include service-

Re: Vent- had to take my car in for service!
WOW! Is it a foreign car? An inspection, oil change and full tune-up on my car was less than $450

When they said they were going to do service B... and told you the cost... why didn't you just say no then?

I can't say no- under my lease agreement I have to get all the serivce done thru them-

Its DEFINITELY something fancy. Its a german car. Nuff said.
Service for these cars are INSANE. I just got an Audi and I cringe when it comes time to get repairs/service. Not fun.
When they offered the 'overpriced' service... you should have just said no. Take your car to an independant garage/service station and do all your oil changes, services there (if they aren't free at the dealer).

Ahhhh... they have you by the balls then.
Does your lease agreement say it has to be done at the Mercedes dealer? (probably does)
Another reason why leasing is baaaaaad.
Sorry to hear that. Be prepared for more service charges then. Wait till you have to get a transmission service. That will be even more. ($600+)

Good decision. With Audi... they give you free service for the entire warranty period (4yrs/50k). And service just doesn't include oil changes like most dealers do. Its EVERYTHING. Brakes, oil changes, wipers, tranny service, anything in the manual... ug et it for free.
Its very nice.
Its the repairs that I may have after the warranty is up.... that scares me.

When you are there... get a copy of the service schedule. The schedule is probably in your manual already... but the prices wouldn't be.
Get the prices of the service schedule when you go see the dealer so the next time you have to go... you know to bring a bottle of your favorite alcohol with you so you are ready when they give you the total.

Re: Vent- had to take my car in for service!
And look at your lease contract LINE by LINE. Don't take the word of the dealer that you must get service there.Read the fine print yourself. I wouldn't be surprised if that 'must be done by dealer service clause' was dealer-made horseshyt.

Re: Vent- had to take my car in for service!
lol...good idea-I love the car- I wanted to upgrade to the new M class truck after we buy a house
and I should b/c they charge the same price for serivce if you have a lowly C230 or a SL500
that's what gets me- the market my car as 'your first mercedes' - towards the 30 and under crowd-
then they kill you with the service fees- it doesn't make sense- they should suck you in with free service on the low model- then get you when you trade up

Re: Vent- had to take my car in for service!
Find out specifically how much a 30k or 36k mile service will cost you. Thats usually the most expensive one you will pay (transmission service) when you own the car for the first 60k or so miles.I am curious what they will charge you. My guess... $599-699.

DH works at Smithtown...I was going to ask him about it for you. Not sure if all dealerships are the same with service though.

With Audi... free service is nationwide.Like i said... read the fine print on the lease contract. I betcha the 'must use dealer service' was a bunch of hand-fed BS.
