How often do you donate blood?

Just how good of a good samaritan are you?

This includes plasma and platelets too!

I donate blood every few weeks, it's been a while since I've donated platelets though, I should go again.

I said rarely but I mostly have intentions to do it often but then I end having a migraine and having to take medication so I can't - stuff like that.

I would donate blood, but the one time I did so, the red cross put the needle entirely THROUGH my vein. It hurt like hell, and because the blood was flowing so slowly they couldn't even use my blood (something about not being able to keep the needle in for more than a certain amount of time, and the bag couldn't fill up in that amount of time). Well, it just left a bad taste in my mouth and I haven't been back to donate since this happened.

I had planned on doing it at a drive at Sunken Meadow but again, had a headache the day before. But I had gotten a brouchure before the date and when I read it, I never realized homosexual men (or men who had sex with a man even once since 1977) couldn't donate.

I don't know why I found that so interesting ... I guess I never thought about it.

i can't b/c i don't weigh enogh. i have in the past and i wish i still could b/c i'm O-, but i can't

I don't have a 'medical condition' per se but I'm not allowed because I don't weigh enough

I've had two bad experiences donating blood cause of my poor blood circulations and haven't donated since. It makes me woozy just thinking about it!

I've only donated whole blood once.

I don't think the weight restriction applies for plasma or platelets for any of those curious. And you can donate those every 28 days.

This happened to me too. I didn't give for about 15 years after that. Last year, I decided to try again, because after 9/11 I thought it would be good to try again. I didn't have a great experience with it this time either, but they did successfully get a pint and I might go back again.

I DONATED TWICE IN MY LIFE.
I ALMOST PASSED OUT ON THE SECOND TIME AND IT REALLY SCARED ME. I WAS LITERALLY SEEING STARS.

ANYWAY, I WONT BE DONATING FOR A WHILE AFTER THAT EXPERIENCE.

I donated blood only once too. I'd definitely do it again.......I just never did.

I happened to give blood while waiting to be called for Jury Duty.....it was either sit in a courtroom for countless hours or give blood. So I gave blood.

Wasn't sure how to answer this because I used to donate as often as I could, which I think is every 5 weeks when we were in college in FL because down there they made it so easy. The Blood Services down there had these mobile units that would park at School and places like Walmart, etc. But, up here it's not a very easy thing to do and unfortunately if they make it difficult for me the likelihood is that I'm not going to do it. when I was working in the courthouse I'd donate whenever they were in the courthouse for the day. But not so much anymore.

So true!! I gave blood regularly when I worked at 200 Park Avenue because MetLife sponsored a drive every 60 days or so (maybe 90 days). It was a good excuse to disappear from the office for a few hours, get a frre gift and cookies and apple juice!

I'm a twig, so I can't donate. For the ladies who wish they were under 110, don't feel that way! Being underweight is no fun for a bunch of reasons; aside from not looking all sexy and curvy, you have to endure lots of nasty comments from people about your weight. It s*cks.

I have low blood pressure. I have tried twice but they will not let me b/c they are afraid I will faint.

I did it twice and would've continued to do it but the last time my sister did, she passed out at home several hours later and had to be admitted in the hospital! So since then we're both afraid to do it.
