Hawaii - Oahu Hotel - Outrigger on the Beach?

FH and I may be changing our original Hotel from the Hilton Hawaiian Village (Ali Tower) to the Outrigger on the Beach...

We were doing some research on TripAdvisor.com and didn't see a lot of positive feedback about the HHV.

Has anyone stayed at the Outrigger? TIA!!!

My travel agent said the one on the beach is 'less rocky' - he also said the Outrigger has the best beach front in Waikiki.

Re: Hawaii - Oahu Hotel - Outrigger on the Beach?

My sister had stayed there when she went to Hawaii. She loved every minute there. I believed she visited other hotels just to be nosy, and she came back raving about the Outrigger.

Re: Hawaii - Oahu Hotel - Outrigger on the Beach?

I stayed there! I loved it. Granted I was there with a girlfriend and therefore wasn't looking for romance or privacy. I liked that Duke's Canoe Club was right downstairs. The pool is not huge but was very clean and was overlooking the beach. I would definitely stay there again if I went back to Oahu. The location was perfect. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Re: Hawaii - Oahu Hotel - Outrigger on the Beach?

I have been to Oahu twice with DH before we got married...We stayed at the Outrigger --while we liked that Duke's was right downstairs, we really didn't think the hotel was that special --especially if you are on your honeymoon --the Sheraton Moana Surfrider is nice and friends of ours stayed at the Royal Hawaiian (the pink hotel) -- it was absolutely gorgeous! If we went back, this is where we'd stay --it is also right on Waikiki beach...

Re: Hawaii - Oahu Hotel - Outrigger on the Beach?

We are staying at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider. I've been to Oahu before and it is a beautiful hotel with great character. It is an old hotel so you have to like that sort of thing. Great outside porch overlooking waikiki beach!

Re: Hawaii - Oahu Hotel - Outrigger on the Beach?

I stayed at the Outrigger on the Beach with my girlfriends when we graduated college--and there were a lot of young single people, especially at Duke's. It was really nice, but not particularly quiet/romantic in my opinion. On our HM, we wanted something very laid back and quieter than Waikiki (We ended up at the 4S Maui at Wailea).

Re: Hawaii - Oahu Hotel - Outrigger on the Beach?

Oh definitely! We are spending only some of our trip on Oahu. The rest of the trip will be at the four seasons on the big island and then the grand wailea on maui. I wouldn't do the whole trip in Oahu, too fast paced.
