wow, its amazing what you can find when you leave NY in terms of homes! you're lucky if you can find a nice co-op for $200k around here!

that is nicer then most houses I have seen- and I haven't seen much under $800,000

but everyone I know has decided not to buy now- so the prices will have to come down if no one is willing to pay-

they want $900,000 for 3 bedrooms in little neck- GMB!

That's true. My best friend moved to Michigan to work for KitchenAid and HATES Michigan. She called me every day crying when she first got there, and doesn't like it any better after 2 years. They pay her a lot of $, and it goes a loooonnnggggg way there.

here is a 5 bedroom, 3 & 1/2 bathroom home in Frisco Texas (a very nice area!) for $238,000!

so unfair!

Not NY...Long Island, Westchester, NYC area...

Upstate there are houses and land at a fraction of the cost of 'Metro area' homes.

A 2 bedroom with no yard...my FI parents sold their house in holbrook in 01 and what it is worth now is a little more then double what they sold it for-and they sold it for a pretty penny

Not NY...Long Island, Westchester, NYC area...

Less, but not a fraction. We looked both upstate near Syracuse (Ithaca) and found homes around $300,000 for a 3 bedroom, and in Dutchess, Orange, and Ulster counties and found the same type of prices. So less, but not cheap cheap. Maybe some really hick towns upstate.

Those houses are beautiful!!! Sometimes I think we should just go move to one of my firm's other locations -- the salary actually stays the same so it would be amazing to actually be able to afford something. DH was talking about buying an apartment in NYC in a few years. Sorry but I'm not paying $700-800K for a 2 bedroom APARTMENT
