MAJOR VENT: I HATE My SINGLE FRIEND!

Someone give me the strength to NOT KILL her!

I got tickets to tomorrow's US Open Event - not just tickets, but like BOX tickets through my company with the 'big wigs' b/c my SINGLE friend woh's a female is completely obsessed with Tennis. She was so excited, and we made plans to have bkfst together, go to the match, and then do a little shopping afterwards.

Great Right? It doesn't matter that I had to go through seven million people - including Moses, God, and Johovva to get these tickets.

She calls me six seconds ago and goes 'I'm so excited, Mike (name changed b/c she might be lurking - good if you're reading this!) just called me and I'm going to Ikea in NJ to help him pick out furniture tomorrow, what do you think I should wear?' w t f....you're serious right? she's completely AWARE how I basically broke my back to get these tickets and i don't even LIKE TENNIS...for her!

And you're DITCHING me to go furniture shopping with a guy you met on a bus, known for three weeks exactly, and is using you as booty call (only calls her at 1am to hang out at his house).....

Never once in my life as a single girl did I EVER cancel plans on anyone to hang out with a guy!

I would be annoyed too... You went out of your way to get tickets specifically for her and she ditches you? That's just wrong...

THAT STINKS - THATS VERY IMMATURE TO SAY THE LEAST.
SOMETIMES PEOPLE WHO ARE IN LUST LOSE SIGHT OF THEIR PRIORITIES. YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY EXPRESS THAT YOU ARE DISAPPOINTED.

WHEN SHE GROWS UP SHE WILL REALIZE THAT FLAKING ON PLANS IS A BIG NO-NO IN THE ADULT WORLD!

I would be annoyed.

She is a good friend of yours discuss it with her tell her how you feel. Maybe she is so excited she didn't think of how she is ditching you and how hard you worked for these tickets (I am not saying it's right but...).

Just got off the phone, yeah, made it worse.

I said politely (which took every ounce of energy from me) 'Hey, I had to pull a lot of strings to get these tickets for us, and I'm really upset that you're cancelling plans on me.'

Her response 'But, you don't know what it's like, I really like this guy, and I don't want to miss the opportunity of spending the day with him.'

My response 'I don't understand what you mean? I wasn't born with a boyfriend, I know what it's like to be single, and it's like like I asked you to come hang out at my house. We're talking about box seats for the US Open event.'

Her response 'I'm sorry that you don't understand. I'm not as independent as you are when it comes to men.'

My response 'This has NOTHING to do with men. This has to do with us being friends. We have SET plans for something - tickets in hand, and you're ditching me.'

Her response 'I'm sorry, but I really like him, and we can go somewhere with this. I'll pay you for the tickets, how much are they?'

My response 'Great, you can pay for the tickets. They're $750 for the pair, when can I come by and pick up the money?'

Her response 'What? $750. I can't afford that.'

My response 'Neither can I, I have a wedding to pay for. I did it for you b/c you wanted it. That's what friends are for.'

Her response 'Wow. I'll pull the money together somehow.'

My response 'Yeah, why don't you ask Mike for it?'

Her response 'Unnecessary. Thought you were a friend.'

My response 'Gotta go and wash my hair.'

Can we say CUT OFF! Fabulous - now I have room for two more people at the wedding...any takers????

I would be furious. It has nothing to do with a guy, it's simple respect and curtosey that your friend should have for you.
I HAD a friend like this - but cut that one loose a couple of years ago.
