How many miles to upgrade to First Class? Europe?

Hi all we're looking into our honeymoon now & I was curious how many miles it cost to upgrade to first class? It would be a European flight (US to Europe).

I think we were quoted around 60,000 (per ticket) miles for first class from NYC to Italy (we went in May).

Completely dependent on the airline and the class of ticket you purchase to begin with - full fare requires less miles but most of us purchase discounted fares. I'd contact the airline you are going to fly because only they can give you the proper information.

(Just as a guideline, American is 25000 + $250 per upgrade per one-way on a discounted economy ticket.)

I was quoted 90,000 miles for roundtrip to Italy in June - First Class. American Airlines

I think it was 60,000 roundtrip for coach.

Not sure how it works for upgrades
