3-4 day vacation suggestions (without flying) needed please!

Ladies, my 2 year anniversary is coming up. DH and I planned to take a vacation every year to celebrate. However, this year it needs to be short. Fri-Mon max. I just recently got back from a big 2 week vaca so I don't really want to be on a plane again so soon. Any suggestions for vacations in October that DON'T involve Flying?

Thanks in advance

I've been to Boston several times (lived there for a while as well). So that's out.

What is mystic conn like in Oct? Any suggestions on what to do/where to stay?

Thanks so much for your quick suggestions! DH wants to fly and go to Puerto Rico but, I HATE flying so I want to convince him otherwise

Re: 3-4 day vacation suggestions (without flying) needed please!

I'm looking for the same thing. We have already been to Newport, Providence, Boston, Salem, Mystic & Portsmouth (ME).
We are now looking into Pennsylvania. I've heard New Hope is nice.

If you haven't been, Newport is nice. We went in the summer, but I think it would be great in the fall. A friend of mine when in the winter & loved it too.

Newport Rhode Island is BEAUTIFUL!! Also, bed & breakfasts are sooo romantic to stay in up in New England....we are going to CT this weekend for DH's birthday--we are going to do Mystic and Mohegan Sun.

Can I get more info on this Club Hilton?? sounds like fun!

Montauk can still be a lot of fun in October. I believe they have a big clam feast on Columbus Day weekend. You can always go horseback riding, fishing, walking on the beach, spa at Gurney's, etc.

You can also go to some historic places if you are in to that. Gettysburg is the one that comes to mind.

Re: 3-4 day vacation suggestions (without flying) needed please!

I know you're not keen on flying, but I've been doing research for my anniversary to go away Friday to Sunday of Columbus Day weekend and I found a great deal we may do to Puerto Plata. It would be between $400-$500 per person including airfare and all-inclusive.
I figure that even going anywhere local won't be cheaper once you take into account hotel, eating, drinking, and spending money.

Re: 3-4 day vacation suggestions (without flying) needed please!

I found that deal on expedia. Unfortunately, you can't get a direct flight for that price, but it's still a good deal.

ETS- Puerto Plata is in the Dominican Republic

Where do you fly from Nicole? We were thinking of flying somewhere, (maybe Florida) but it takes so long to get to the airport that we figured that time could be spent on teh road. And flights from Westchester dont' go anywhere good!

Re: 3-4 day vacation suggestions (without flying) needed please!

Since DH and I are big baseball fans, we were planning on going to Cooperstown for our anniversary. I love it up there. But we decided on a cruise instead.

Carnival has a 2 night 'Cruise to Nowhere' that leaves from NYC.

Montauk's Fall Festival is Columbus Day weekend. There is plenty to do and there are still a lot of people who come out, but it's not as crowed as it is in the summer. That's a very good thing!
