Re: Opinions on my sample invite....
They are not exactly my style, but they are pretty! I wouldn't go for the background paper bc I wouldn't want to draw away from the part of the invite with the wedding info. But, that's JMHO. I like the colors... and the font!

Re: Opinions on my sample invite....
I like the text card and background, but I think the scrolls are a tad to busy. Good start though. I'm doing my own invites as well, so I know it's all about trial and error!

Re: Opinions on my sample invite....
OK-so the scrolls are gone...I agree...FH is Indian and they use bold color in their invites a lot of the time and we didn't find anything that we liked with color (or they are WAY too expensive). My mom thinks the second layer should be the same beige as the backround and the text color made Mocha but at the point I'd have them made (tho I agree with her too). Only reason I'd make them is for the color.Anyone else have ideas?
Thanks!

Re: Opinions on my sample invite....
sorry but i just dont like it - the silver paper in the back would be ok - if you didnt have red paper between it then blue writing - too many colors - and i totally agree if you are using that silver paper the scrolls are too busy - one or the other

Re: Opinions on my sample invite....
I am also wondering about your FHs dad being there since he is deceased. I understand that he wants to include his dads name but the invites are issued by the surviving parent.Suggestion:
Together with their parents
Laura ....
daughter of ....
and
Philip
son of ....
request the honour of your presence
Secondly...
I agree with the others the scrolls do have to go. But moreover, I am concerned that the white background with the gold embellishments do not match the purple. I suspect purple is your wedding color. I also wanted to match my wedding invites to my wedding color but in the end opted not to do it.
I may have to agree with your mothers suggestion that a brown family of colors would match better with the invitations.
Have you also checked out the following Indian wedding invitation site:
www.indianweddingcard.com .... I had bought my invites there as have others on LIW.
Hope this helps.
p.s. is the white background a wrapping paper? If so, I used it to wrap my rehearsal dinner gifts. LOL :)

Re: Opinions on my sample invite....
I like it, I just think it would look more elegant if the font was in black. I like the scrolls and the paper - very pretty.

Re: Opinions on my sample invite....
I like the invite too - but if you're looking for something with more color definitely check out invites We ordered ours from there and they have some that are very reasonably priced.

Re: Opinions on my sample invite....
I figured that the colors might not show well on everone's computer so I'll describe them here:The first layer is a nice beige with the swirls in gold. It's actually the one paper that everyone seems to love...it's from the Paper company and I bought it AC Moore. ( I have seen this on other invites online and as wrapping paper!)
The second is a deep purple (tho not as deep as I'd like) and, yes, the BM dress color- I agree that I may give up on matching them.
The wording page is cream with the purple writting (the scrolls should be purple but look blue-ish- but they are going anyway). The cream helps draw attention to the writting and helps it stand out. The ink matches the paper very well in person.
I understand the comments on his father's name being on there- that's something that I think his mom really wants. Most ettiquete people say not to do it also but many say just do what you want. It's tough...I'll talk to my FMIL and see if she wants it to stay...knowing her she'll want to add 'Compliments by (his brother)' at the bottom as they did for his brother's wedding. Moving parent names below our names is a good idea tho.
We ordered about 12 samples from Indian Wedding Card and the service was great but we haven't been able to compromise on them. I wanted scroll invites but the nice ones are $$ and the one's I ordered were already falling apart!
Sounds like this isn't a great idea so I'll probably forget it. I appreciate the comments tho! Thanks!

Re: Opinions on my sample invite....
Is this supposed to be a scroll invite?Something to keep in mind, scroll invites cost more for postage. As do square invites. Rectangular is the best in terms of cost.
All that being said, we did square invites.
