irish day in long beach?

anyone know what irish day is in long beach?

i know that it is saturday - but was wondering where exactly it is and is it a street fair, carnival etc?

I never go (I teach in Long Beach) because I don't want to see my kids in a particular state. I think there is a parade....???

There is a parade... beech street is closed and there are rides and tons of people outside drinking, eating... its lots of fun!! All of the bars and restaurants are open and have outside tents etc... its a fun day!!

Irish day is an annual event in Long Beach for the last 16 years. They close off Beech Street at around 8am The parade kicks off at noon.(forget the street it starts on). Vendors sell things and they do I believe have rides. The bars/restaurants are packed and they have live Irish music. Some have tents outside and porto potties. It's called St. Brendan the Navigator Day parade also known as 'Irish Day' Its run by thr Ancient Order of Hibernians. It's a lot of fun. It's a big party day all around after the parade and a lot of people have house parties. Hope this helps!
