thanks for the generous gift. it was very much appreciated. we plan on using it for a (down payment on a house, new driveway, couch, plates, vacation, fendi bag) etc

let them know how you used it so if they visit or whatever they can think their money went to that item and it gives it more substance than just cash

everyone uses 'generous gift' and I hate it. I would just say thank you for your gift, it was very appreciated.

I just got a thank you that said 'thank you for your gift of money in celebration of our marriage'. I thought it was a bit odd. Just thank you for your gift is enough.

For my e-party gifts I used 'generous gift' for everything that was $100 or over. For the $10-$25, I wrote thank-you for the gift. (there were no financial gifts between $25-$100). For the really really really big one, I used 'extremely generous gift'.

I did not use the word gift. I said something like, your generousity is greatly appreciated...or something like that.

For some of the monetary thank yous i have written, I have used, Thank you for your generous gift.
