Dress Dilemma...Need Advice.

Well I'm finally about to order my dress and I need your help. I've been searching for a lace dress within my budget for a while now and found one today at Macy's of Manhasset. The only problem is it would need modification.

It's a Demetrios Platinum Collection. It has straps and a removable sash it's a modified a line even though it looks like a mermaid. I don't want the straps. Betty, my saleslady, said it wouldn't be a problem turning it into a strapless, which is exactly what I want. Do you think I should order it? Has anyone else modified their dress? I'm so confused and I need to order it ASAP. Thanks

Re: Dress Dilemma...Need Advice.

I know Betty at Macy's bridal in Manhasset very well. She would NEVER tell you it could be done without a problem if it wasn't true. She has been working there a very long time and knows what she is talking about. I heard her saying the same thing to another bride yesterday actually and we were talking about it!!!

I would order it!!! and good luck!! My friend just ordered her Demetrios dress yesterday and it wont be in until June

ETA: The pic was not showing up before but that is a beautiful dress!

Re: Dress Dilemma...Need Advice.

The only reason my friends dress is going to take so long was b/c its a Tulle skirt that needs to be order to her exact height.. they said that takes an additional 2 months!

Re: Dress Dilemma...Need Advice.

If you look at Brides Review, Mrs_B has a dress that is strapless and she has the corset back. It is VERY simular to the dress you like now, than you wont have to do any work on it and worry about it. Check it out and tell me if you need help. Mrs_B is very nice she will help you out alot, she has with me, good luck i am attaching the pick of her in her gown i hope it works....I relly dont think making the gown you love a strapless will be a big deal either...

Re: Dress Dilemma...Need Advice.

Thanks girls..I guess I'm just a nervous wreck over making the wrong decision. I think I still need to ask them more questions about what will be done to the dress.

Re: Dress Dilemma...Need Advice.

I love Macy's at Manhasset, I'm getting my dress there too. Just think, the dress would be so unique, maybe even one-of-a kind, if you modified it! I would trust them, I think it would look beautiful.

Re: Dress Dilemma...Need Advice.

if you're still nervous, get a 2nd opinion. take the photo to a seamstress and ask if it can be done, or go to a different store that carried the dress and ask the salespeople there if it can be done
