Honest Opinions: Do you feel that...

...three registry locations are too much?

Okay, FI and I decided to register at Fortunoff and BB&B. We don't live together, so we literally need everything. As we are finding things we like and adding, I've noticed that BB&B has a huge amount of our stuff from appliances to cookware and I even spilt some of our formal and everyday flatware there, as well as our formal stemware.

Fortunoff has our formal and everyday china because BB&B does not carry the patterns we liked. We also put a bedding set we really loved that only Fortunoff carried, and it also has the balance of our stemware and flatware.

I wanted to register at Crate & Barrel as well, as we need everyday drinkware and they had some serving pieces, pitchers, etc., that I really liked. FI thinks that three locations is too much, and I can't really consolidate the two registries because both have certain items or aspects only to them etc.

What are your opinions? Am I going to look like I want all these things if I register at three places???

Thanks for any suggestions!

Do what makes you happy. That is the whole point of registering-so you guys can get what you really want-if you are fortunate.

Re: Honest Opinions: Do you feel that...

ok, i'm the minority here - b/c i think 3 is too much. we are in the same boat, don't live together and needs lots of stuff - we found everything we need at bb&b and crate and barrel. however, we only registered for casual dinnerware, no china whatsoever.

i wuld try to do it in 2, jmo.

3 registries are totally acceptable and not too much. it'll give your guests more options/places to shop at

well, I started two (M.C. Fina and BB&B) but I have a serious addiction to Crate and Barrel. I just love plates and drinkware, and since I have been forbidden by fh to buy any more, I may have to start a 3rd registry....

the only issue that may come up is when you give people too many choices, the decision becomes harder to make....some of your guests might break out into a sweat over what to buy from where....(I know I would, but I am a freak with housewares....) but in the end if you get what you want..you will all be happy.

Re: Honest Opinions: Do you feel that...

its not too much at all. I registered at two places based on locations.

Macy's
because its all over the country and my older folks wouldn't buy online

Linens & Things
my FI's aunt works there and gets a great discount, so when we have to complete it ourselves, we can use the 20% discount in addition to the normal complete registry discount of 20% (so a total of 40%, plus they always have coupons)

Re: Honest Opinions: Do you feel that...

How about I register at C&B, not tell anyone, then after the wedding go and take advantage of the 10% completion discount?!

Re: Honest Opinions: Do you feel that...

I originally had three, now have two, and considering bringing it down to one. I honestly do not feel that three is a lot at all. It's your decision and of course you're offerring your guests more options, so they can choose which is more convenient, and I'm sure the three have varying prices as well.

Is it wrong to falsify thank you cards?

Re: Honest Opinions: Do you feel that...

I don't think 3 is too much. We did two, but then again, we're both older, have lived on our own for a long time and did not need as much stuff. Sure, it was a blast registering for new stuff and as the wedding is getting closer, I love all the daily deliveries!

I think it also depends on the size of your wedding. I think the larger your wedding, the more things you need to register for so your guests won't be left with nothing to buy you should they choose to give you a gift-gift, rather than a monetary gift. We happen to be having a very large wedding (490 people invited), and I found myself looking at my registry saying there wasn't enough of a choice.

Anyway, that's JMO

Re: Honest Opinions: Do you feel that...

I did two cause my mom said three is 'greedy' but now she is telling me to register at a third place cause all the OOT guest have never even heard of Fortunoffs.

So three it will be!

If you do that, make sure you send them from YOUR friends, not your FH's!
