Another marriage license question
How much does it cost in LI? I know that it says that if it is issued in the City of NY, then it is $30, but not in the City of NY, then it is $25. Does that mean it's $25? How much is it in Queens then. does the 'city' only refer to Manhattan? If the marriage license is issued by a town or city clerk in New York State outside of New York City, it costs $25. If it is issued by the City Clerk of the City of New York, it costs $30.

Re: Another marriage license question
And don't you need a money order? How do you know how much to make the money order out to?Maybe once I decide which office I am going to, I will call.
Sometimes I'm a slow thinker.

We just got ours in Brooklyn. It was $35 dollars and they tell you who to make it out to when you get there. I think it was 'City Clerk'

Re: Another marriage license question
yes, you need a money order. The lady in the office filled it out, but it was to the city clerk

Re: Another marriage license question
we got ours at the town of Hempstead. It was $40 and we wrote a check. The office opened at 9 and filled up pretty quick so I would suggest going early.

Re: Another marriage license question
i got our's in manhasset in 2004. we paid roughly $30 and in cash. it's really super quick. we were the only ones there and we didn't even go early. if you could.. call ahead and ask what you should bring if you're unsure. also.. ask how they take the money. my location took only cash. so get your into first before you go in.

Re: Another marriage license question
interesting...so maybe it depends on the office you go to. I will definately call before hand, I don't want to get stuck going all the way out the island then have to go back and take another day off work.

The NYC office does not accept cash. They only accept money orders (for $35 made payable to City Clerk of New York). Each office has different requirements so definitely call ahead beforehand.
