I'm thinking of using You Light Up My Life. I used to sing it when I was 5 with a lincoln log as my microphone. My dad enjoys this memory a lot.
A friend of mine used a Beatles song because her father loves the Beatles.

FH is dancing with his mom to that. I'm also using a Beatles song to dance with my father to: Michelle.... because that's my name!

Re: father/daughter songs

I don't know the name of the song, but it goes 'fathers be good to your daughters,' 'Girls become lovers who turn into mothers, so mothers be good to your daughters too' I love that song, I'm dancing with this teacher I had who was like a father to me at my wedding. NOT ALONE, but I really love this song. Its so sweet and what I feel a father daugher song should be.

Re: father/daughter songs

We danced to My Little Girl by Steve Kirwan. It's fairly new I think and sung by a no-namer. Lots of people liked it and asked about it.

Re: father/daughter songs

We used a 'Song for my Daughter' everyone was in tears.
'A Song for My Daughter'

Just once upon a yesterday

I held you in my arms

You grew into a little girl

With lovely childhood charms

Now it seems I only turned around

And I see you by his side

Oh, I cannot believe my eyes today

My Daughter is a Bride

I guess somehow I always knew

This day would soon be here

Still I wonder as I look at you

What became of all the years

And no words could ever quite express

The way I feel inside

Oh, I can't believe my eyes today

My Daughter is a Bride

All the laughter and the teardrops

The sunshine and the rain

I would relive every moment, Dear

If I could bring them all back again

But now, my Love, the time has come

To send you on your way

So I wish you every happiness

And the blessings of this day

And I hope the love I've given you

Will forever be your guide

Oh, I cannot believe my eyes today

My Daughter is a Bride

website to hear the song

Re: father/daughter songs

My dad and I used this song. He picked it out and I dont think ANYONE had a dry eye. I heard it and couldn't believe how perfect it is for a father daughter wedding dance.
I am not one for country either but this is PERFECT

In your arms - Mark Wills

Three a.m. on the clock
Lullaby, music box
Oh, baby please don't cry
Let's let mama sleep tonight
You've only been home one day
You don't even know your name
Tiny hand on my cheek
You;re a miracle to me
In the still ness of the night
Cradled in this rocking chair
I hold all my hopes and dreams,
Every single answered prayer

In my arms
Wish I could hold you forever
In my arms
I will give you shelter
Still I know I can't always be there
To protect you from this great big old world
But I swear this much is true
There'll always be a place for you...in my arms

As I watch you take each breath
Oh, it scares me to death
To know you're counting on me
To be the daddy that you need
Wounded knees, broken hearts
Learning how to drive a car
When it's time for your first date
Will I know just what to say
And when you find that one true love
I'll put on my best smile
And I'll try to hide my tears
As I walk you down the aisle

In my arms
Wish I could hold you forever
In my arms
I will give you shelter
Still I know I can't always be there
To protect you from this great big old world
But I swear this much is true
There'll always be a place for you...in my arms

Oh, this promise I will keep
As you finally fall asleep...in my arms

Re: father/daughter songs

We used 'You Sang To Me' by Marc Anthony - he wrote it for his daughter.

That was after a brief intro of 'Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah' by Allan Sherman, which is 'our' song.

I was going to use the same song because I used to sing it too but my dad chose the song and he chose 'Lullabye (Goodnight My Angel' by Billy Joel.

Not sure if it's truly an oldie but Isn't She Lovely by Stevie Wonder is great if you want something a little more upbeat.
