NWR: Please send my baby Abu your prayers (with pics of the angel!)--UPDATED may he rest in peace
my little baby angel cat Abu was just diagnosed with advanced stomach and pancreatic cancer yesterday. i am beyond devastated
i adopted him from Long Beach Animal Shelter when he was a tiny thing back when I was in 9th grade. i've had him over 12 years.
i know he doesn't have much time left, and he's gotten so skinny. i just keep hoping for a miracle. i cry all day at work over him.
here's baby Abu on the first day we had him (with his sis Jasmine) and during his first bath
here he is in his "teen" years...dressed up as a doll (how humiliating for a boy!) and sitting in his stocking
and here he is all grown up sitting in the window with his brother Simba (may he rest in peace) and his big sis Jasmine, and also when he was a big fat cat (look at the ancient cell phone in the background!)
UPDATED: we had to put Abu to sleep this morning. it's one of the hardest things i've ever had to do. the vet said we did the right thing as he was too far gone to help him. that made me feel a bit better. i love him so much, it's so hard to not have him here anymore

I'm so sad Carol..I was there when you guys got abu&jasmine, and i know how much you love animals, in particular your babies. I feel awful and i know it isn't easy for you. Hang in there...you gave abu the BEST life and i know how much he loves you. Try to cheer up...i know its easier said than done, i just don't want you sad for too long.

So sorry. I had to put my cat that I had for 20 years to sleep in Aug then 3 weeks later my father passed away from cancer

unfortunately, it has spread too far. we got him an ultrasound yesterday and they said he has tumors all over. he is just so skinny and weak now and he can't play anymore.
once he stops eating, i know what i have to do. i just keep hoping he'll pass quietly in his sleep.
oh, and i found this out yesterday which was 5 years to the day that my grandmother died of stomach and pancreatic cancer. talk about a sick coincidence.

I understand how hard it is to lose a pet, they are part of the fam, and part of your life.
I most definitely will pray for Abu.
Be sure and give him extra love right now, keep him comfortable, and be sure and cuddle with him.

AWWW I am sooo sorry, These little creatures become such a part of the family. I know how devestaiting a diagnosis like this can be, My Dog was just diagnosed with lymphoma. My thoughts and prayers are with you and many many hugs!!!

Carol, I can barely see my words through the tears in my eyes. I am so sorry for you. Abu is beautiful and he is blessed to have a mommy that loves him so much. I feel sick for you. Those pics have me balling. I have 2 cats of my own & I cry everytime I think about the fact that they won't be w/me forever. I truly can imagine how painful this is for you. Try to be strong and help keep him as comfortable as possible. Again, I am so sorry. Please feel free to FM if you need to talk.

I'm very sorry. I grew up with cats and loved them almost like members of the family. We have had to put them to sleep when they got really sick, and always felt that it was the right decision...
