Re: <3 Official Russo's on the Bay Thread <3

Hi Ladies,
I am having an issue & need some advise. I need to make a desision regarding entertainment in 24 hours I like a band that my cousin had at her wedding this past august named Code Bleu, they were awsome played a good veriety of music & kept everyone out of there seats. They first told me they would charge $5500. for a wedding in February, my cousin paid over $6000 in August. The band called me yesterday telling me that they need to know if I am going with them b/c someone else is requesting the date. Now he tells me that he had just make a new contract with the band members & the best he can do is $5725.00 also I haven't decided on the
Venetian hour which if I do the band wants an extra $75 a band member & there are 8 band members.

On the other hand I can go with a DJ who has a singer, the singer will sing dinner music for the 3 sit down courses all together for a price of $3100.

I am crazy I am paying for this whole wedding me & FH & I know the DJ is a better choice but I so want a band. What advice do any of you have. I need help.

Hey Kris...I think you should go with the DJ. It's so much less than the band and from my experience using DJ's with a live singer just as good as a real band. If you absolutely have your heart set on a band did you try shopping around? My friend had a band at her wedding in February for 4,000. I can get the name of them if you like.

Re: <3 Official Russo's on the Bay Thread <3

Hi Ladies,
Thanks for your in put. Mady, I agree with you I think they are awsome but to change the price like that I don't even want to give them my business even if I can get them down in price.

-Nikki, I have been shopping I haven't found a band cheaper then $4800. What is the name of your friends band? where you at the wedding, What did you think of them?

My FH wants the DJ, don't get me wrong I had a good vibe from him I like the way he works I just have to think about it more.

This whole wedding planning stuff is crazy. You want everything just right. My biggest thing is the food which I got that right with Russo's & the music. I feel if you have good food & music it makes the wdding.

Re: <3 Official Russo's on the Bay Thread <3

I would shop around.. I know that you probably can do better.

I know that Mizzdimple (Lisa) had a band at well.. DH and I went with a DJ from Sound Check Entertainment and only paid $800 (one man but that's all we needed).

I know that all this is just crazy planning but believe me it will be well worth it

Re: <3 Official Russo's on the Bay Thread <3

Thanks for all the input, I hope you all don't mind me venting to you all. I feel like you ladies are my support. Mizzdimple (Lisa) had a band that was I think over $6000. I don't want to spend that money lol. But I am going to look at all my options. I am starting to think that the DJ/ with the singer might just be the best thing. I will have a little live entertainment & get any song I want played with the DJ. I am going to look into other bands, but I think I might end up with the DJ. Plus FH feels really strong about them & he has been awsome letting me really run the show & do what I want for our wedding. So we will see what I decide in the long run.

You're so welcome.. wow I know I wrote alot (I even cut some stuff out because typed without pics it was like 16 pages long!) but I wanted to be as complete and honest as possible knowing that people are using the same vendors, etc.

I truly loved everything that day and I was so happy to be able to just sit back and relax and most of all PARTY!

Thank you Nikki,
But don't worry. I actually desided to go with the DJ/singer me & FH had a really good vibe from him & liked how professional he was.

I actually have been looking at Bands even before I booked Russo's & we are on a budget. I would have booked that band Code Bleu if the guy didn't turn out to be suck a jerk.

I feel that if I wait longer the DJ will get swipted up by another bride. People think I have so much time since I am not getting married until 2010, but the fact is my wedding date is popular & brides are starting to realize if they want to get married on Valentine's day on the weekend they need to book there wedding for 2009 or 2010. I think I made a good choice.

I am also realizing if I went with a band that is going to coast me no less then $4900, which is the lowest price I could find & the highest was $8500. I would need to cut other things out that I do want for my wedding just to get a band.

Going with Dash of Class DJ's I am getting a DJ/ MC, lights that will complement the room with the color scheme of my wedding & a singer for the three sit down courses during dinner. This is saving me about $3000. then going with the band that I can put to my honnymoon.

So I am now going to try & get flowers out of the way. little by little I want to book a vendor so I can relax. lol I can't wait & leave things for last minute I get to stressed. I am going to check out Adrianna at Russo's, Flower Michele, & my cousins florist.

I already spoke with Dyker florist design in Brooklyn, I really liked Billy's work. The price was a bit high for my flower budget so thats why I want to keep looking. If I decide to go back to Billy I am going to try & talk him down

Sorry for my story lol

Kris....You sound a bit like me.. I took my road test and passed when I was 16- I lived with my grandmother at the time and just when she was going to get me a car she got very sick and then few years after passed away. So I didn't pressure her about the car once she got sick but then I never had a car to drive around even to practice in. So now DH has to teach me all over again (good thing was I kept up my license) but mainly since I am on his insurance now I really want to drive since we're paying to have me insured.

Also when you look for a florist don't waste your time with Stefan's- they showed me a sample CP that was just wilting in 3 hours time! I can tell you though that John from Flower Michele can work with any budget and get you a great deal.. I was sooo happy with him and the flowers I had.

Mady- That going to make a payment is the same excuse that DH and I used when going to all those showcases

i met with flowers by brian (across the street from russo's).
liked his work at the showcases but felt rushed wen i went to meet with him. he pretty much gave me ONLY roses for a price that was a little on the high side.

Re: <3 Official Russo's on the Bay Thread <3

I also wasn't crazy about Flowers by Brian. I told him even though I am having a Valentine's Day wedding I want to stay clear from roses. I want to use some roses for the bouquets but not the center pieces & they kept insisting I should do Red & White Roses it looks so classic. I was like this is my wedding not yours & if you aren't going to use my ideas then I am sorry but I can not book you. I just felt that they were not listening to me & were going to show up on my wedding with what they wanted.

Adrianna I just want to check out. I did tell her my budget & she said to come in & she will see how she can work with me. So I just want to see what she can come up with.

Thank you all for all the great suggestions.

KRIS:

lol i sat with adriana and we discussed the things i liked (she is SUPER SWEET!!!!) but then wen we came to the PRICE part and i told her i didnt want to spend over $5,000 (which was really pushing it for me) she gave me this look like i was nuts. then she said "uhhhmmm well let me see how we can work with this". she kinda made me feel poor! lol

Re: <3 Official Russo's on the Bay Thread <3

really OMG. well you are not I can't stand people like that. Your budget is higher then mine for Flowers I only want to spend $3000. & I already found a florist designer who can do exactly what I want but he first wanted $4200. then I got him down to $3800. so if she is rude like that when I go I will let her know I will have to go with someone else. If all else fails I am going to seee if I can get this guy down to at least $3500. I would be happy with that. I know I am going to get high prices even if I don't use roses just b/c of the day, but I feel flowers die lol. I rather spend more on photo & video. Thanks for the heads up.

Tonight I sooo want to go but I still haven't found anyone who wants to go. I have dragged my mom to about two or three shows & tonight FH has something to do. So I don't think we will meet tonight. But I am going to the next showcase even if I hitch a ride .
