we ordered my w-ring in April, thank goodness! so that would be 7 months before. my ring took 4 & 1/2 months to make 
IMO, it's never too early, and 1 expense you can get out of the way

We plan on getting them later this month/early January (wedding in September). Not sure how true this is, but at Fortunoff they said the prices of platinum and diamonds keep going up - they've had two increases this year...so we figure why wait, just go get them and get it out of the way.
Also, the diamond district closes down for a month or so - I think July.

we first got them a week after we got engaged, but then i had to change my e-ring so i had dto change my wedding band, i just got it yesterday and he had his for a long time...

Not sure exactly, but I'm definitely going to start looking at least a year in advance, because I have a pretty strong feeling I'm going to need to get something made special, because I need a curved band to fit my engagement ring, and I don't really like what seems to be the only kind of curved ring you can buy in stores, which is just a band with channel set diamonds.

we ordered them early bv/c mine was very expensive and we wanted time to pay it off.....so we bough fhs at the same time. then we deicded on a less expensive ring for me...and it was 1 of a kind, so i bought it b4 anyone else did!!! so it just happened that way..but you deff dont have to do it till way later. it is a nice expense to get over though!

The whole diamond district doesn't close down. But most businesses do and it's not for a month it's only for 2 weeks in July.
