If you girls could choose a NYC hotel to stay in for the weekend..

which one would it be?

We are going to have our 'away' weekend in the city (even though I am here every day! LOL)

My one stipulation is that we stay ABOVE SOHO...anything below would feel like a typical day for me.

so, from Union Square up, what would you pic?

An old standby (ie Waldorf Astoria) or a new hip spot (ie Hudson Hotel)

your opinions and suggestions are much appreciated!

I would stay at the Mandarin Oriental in Columbus Circle!

what happened there is terrible, but it could happen ANYWHERE. It doesn't deter me from staying there- you have to be careful and vigilant every where you go.

God Bless that poor woman. I hope they catch that animal quickly.

the plaza, the waldorf, perhaps the pierre (it's a four seasons hotel). the pierre's the only one i've ever stayed at - very nice.

I second this, the views are amazing.. expensive but it's a beautiful hotel

FH and I did a little escape in NYC and stayed at the W Court..I believe it is on 39th and Lex. The Court has slightly smaller rooms than the other W hotels and is less money per night. THere is a really coo bar and restaurant in the hotel and it was a great stay.... THere is another main W hotel next door.. i believe it is the W Tuscany and you are able to utilize their ammenities....

We both worked in nyc at the time and did a little escape. The W is a really cool place to stay in. It has a really funky Manhatten feel.

Oh..and because of it's location...it is not too trafficy and getting cabs were super easy!!!

i once read about this place that was called the library or something? each floor was another 'section'....

I second that!!!!! We stayed there after we got engaged!!! (in 04 right after it opened) we had our own fire place in the room!!! it was so romantic...the bathroom is to die for!! it is very pricey but they have specials....also the spa is one of the best in the city....
