Going to look at Photographers this week

Can anyone give me tips on what to expect - what is a waste of $$, etc?? I am looking to do photo and video from the same place.

I am going to Glenmar today and Duet on Saturday.

If anyone has prices and can FM me that would be great.

Photography is tricky. I went all out researching photography and definately would not consider myself an expert.

I can tell you what I look for in a photographer was

1. That I got to meet with whomever was going to take the pictures at my wedding
This is why I didn't go with Duet although for the price they give you a great deal and beautiful pics

2. I wanted a coffeetable album and to do this, it is much cheaper to have a digital photography.

3. I wanted 2 photographers and also to make sure that the photographer stayed to the end of the ceremony.

4. For me, I was looking for a true combination of photojournalism and portraits.

Do you know what you are looking for? film vs digital or both? I would insist on all the negatives free in your contract or all the images on a high res cd at no cost and in writing.

I'm doing photo and video from Proline and they've been great.

ETA: I agree with the above post - i think she had great advice - it was very important for me to be able to meet the photographer and videographer before i booked/paid. these people are going to be spending the day with you and i wanted to see there work and have someone that would be a pleasure to spend time with. We went with digital b/c it was a priority for FH and we wanted a mix of photojournalism and portraits as well.

I think that finding a photographer was one of the most most frustrating parts for me. We chose Celestial Photography. Lou Cohen is the name of the owner. He is the photographer who will be doing our wedding. He is such a sweetheart and I feel very comfortable with him.

I am with Duet- and I think Eric the owner and his wife and staff are a nice set of people to work with.

I am using Duet, I have Jay as my photographer... we loved the photos he took , we met him and he was wonderful,,,our engagement pictures are truly beautiful!
