I want to go so badly, but I'm worried about spending that much money. I Guess it's a once in a lifetime thing, right ?

Re: Who is dead set on Hawaii for the HM?

We are going to Maui and Kuai. I heard that Kuai has no night life and Maui has a little. I think that the most night life is on Oahu, which is also very "touristy"

Re: Who is dead set on Hawaii for the HM?

WE ARE! WE ARE!

We are planning on booking within the next few days only because we haven't decided between Oahu (Waikiki) and Maui (Wailea).

We've researched soo much about both that we don't know what to do, but for those who are looking, I think those areas sound like the best!

Re: Who is dead set on Hawaii for the HM?

We are going NEXT MONTH. We are flying into Oahu for 2 nights to see Pearl Harbor as a tribute to my father's service in World War II. Sure its touristy but its a part of history that too few people seem to be interested in anymore.

From Oahu we are going to Kauai to chill out for three nights and be honeymooners.

From Kauai we go to the Big Island of Hawaii to stay on an inactive volcano for two nights - we will never have a chance to do anything like that again.

Then off to Maui for four nights to complete the trip!

Two weeks! Lucky you!

We're staying a week and dreadinggg the flight! Too bad there are no non-stops to Hawaii, that might minimize plane time

Re: Who is dead set on Hawaii for the HM?

I don't have the paper in front of me and still didn't read it in depth, but I posted yesterday about registering with After Hours for tuxes and getting free airfare for 2 to select destinations and hotels... Hawaii was definitely one of them.... when i get a moment i'll look into it, but might be worth looking into if it at least cuts the airfare cost... from what I glimpsed at it, it was mandatory 7 days staying at a hotel for $230ish per day? I thought that's a lot, but I really have no clue about vacation costs

We are - for two weeks!!! Hooray! First week on the Big Island, then a week in Maui. Not looking forward to the long flight either, but I'm hoping we have enough miles to upgrade by then :)

Re: Who is dead set on Hawaii for the HM?

I am going!! I went once about 14 years ago. It is a long plane ride, but worth it. Hawaii is absolutely beautiful. When I went, I stayed in Honolulu and Maui. Both were really nice, but I liked Maui much better.

For our HM we are going to Honolulu for a night. THen off to Maui and Kaui for the rest of the trip. We are staying at the Hyatt at both. If you guys like to party, I would suggest Honolulu. It is a big city with lots to do. I would also suggest to see at least two islands. So I would say to go to Maui and Honolulu. I think Kaui and The big Island might be to relaxed. Me and FH are not big partiers, so Kaui was for us. The Hyatts give you really good deals if you stay in two of them during your trip.

Honolulu- Great Hotel- Halekulani, I know they have a Hyatt.

Maui- Grand Waliea, Fairmont Kea Lani, Four Seasons, Hyatt. All get great reviews.

Hope this helps!!

Re: Who is dead set on Hawaii for the HM?

WE ARE!!! And i'm so excited i feel like i'm going to burst!

We're spending 6 nights in Maui and 7 nights in Oahu! But i'm also dreading the flight and i hate to fly. But nothing is going to keep me from going!

I've already booked some of our activites while we're in maui! It's so exciting!

However, the only way we are able to go is that we are using my FH's parents Marriott reward points. So the hotel stays are free! Got to love the in-laws to be!!

I would have liked to have gone there, but it was out of our budget. I was never dead set on it, and actually now I am really happy with our choice.

I would've loved to have gone there but it's just too expensive. And I wasn't looking forward to the idea of flying for hours on end. I still hope to get there one of these days.

I think there might be one on United as well from one of the area airports. I'm not 100% though. A lot of people though seem to like to have a layover to get up and walk around a bit and stretch their legs.

FH is deadset on Hawaii as well, I just wanted to go to someplace beachy. His reasoning is that when else will we be able to justify a vacation long enough to visit Hawaii.

Re: Who is dead set on Hawaii for the HM?

I don't have a choice in the matter. That was the ONLY thing about the wedding that my FH had a definite opininion on. LOL. For those of you who are going, can I ask what you paid for your airline tickets? The cheapest I found was $706 for beg. August. Is this good???
