I just started the nutrisystem diet and the food made me sick to my stomach. It felt like a detox.

Kinda dangerous, I think. But on a relative note, has anyone done a colonic?

It depends - if you fast, yes. But if you stick to whole, clean foods, water and some dandelion root tea, no.

Re: Anyone been on a detox diet?
I did a detox diet after I quit smoking. I kept looking for food to eat to fix my nicotine craving. The diet started with just fruits, vegetables and 100% fruit juice and water to drink. After five days of fruits and veggies you fast for four-five days. After you are done fasting, you slowly introduce foods back into your diet such as grains, no fast food. I did this and it started me in such a healthy direction. After doing this and exercising daily, I have lost forty pounds. good luck.

Re: Anyone been on a detox diet?
I've done detox diets the past 3 years...it's a great way to clean out your system and 're-set' your body. It can be done very safely, but the foods are pretty bland...I actually don't eat any meat, fish or chicken for a whole week. You feel so much better afterwards and you can lose a good amount of weight.FM me for more details. I'm in the health field and can e-mail you info.

Re: Anyone been on a detox diet?
It's amazing that you really don't feel nauseous. The only thing I had was a headache from the caffeine withdrawl. NO COFFEE!!!
You end up feeling so good and you have control over your eating again.

Be careful... a girlfriend of mine became addicted to them a few years ago, when you use them everyday your body gets used to them, and then you start to need them to go to the bathroom.. she took them everyday, wound up doing alot of damage to her colon and needed surgery.. jsut be careful!!!

Re: Anyone been on a detox diet?
I just need to share some more -Do NOT ever do that!!!!
First of all, it is just shy of bulimia... I had a friend in college who did it and she got very sick. Your body naturally needs to do it on its own. If you abuse laxatives, whcih is what your coworkers are doing, the following occurs:
- dehydration - and ultimately - loss of electrolytes, which can lead to heart trouble
- your system begins to get dependent on them, making your digestive system 'laz' and you will have problems eliminating food on your own
- loss of vitamins and nutrients your body needs - since laxatives just clear everything out before your body has the chance to absorb necessary nutrients....
PLEASE don't do this! Why would you do this? Just eat well and exercise - that is the healthiest thing you can do! You will still look good in a wedding dress!!!!
