Looking for a quick answer

FH and I have been arguing about this tonight..

We are trying to find a place for our rehersal dinner. FMIL is paying for it and I have been looking at places all over. Finally, after months of picking places and she keeps saying no she tells me today her other son ate at a place and she wants it there. I have never even been to the place she recommends and I don't even know it.
I would like to keep the RD in the same area as the church since OOTers will be lost.
FMIL wants to have it at a place we have never been to and is not convienient to OOTers and since she is paying FH insits we have to have it where his mother wants it.

Is this true?? I know they are paying and I am very grateful but aren't we supposed to pick where we want RD?????????

WHO PICKS RD location???? Please tell me if FH is right or I am right, THANKS!

Re: Looking for a quick answer

I guess whoever is hosting it really should be in charge of picking it.

Re: Looking for a quick answer

i guess she should have the final answer since she is paying...is she an unreasonable person? Why not address your concerns with her regarding the location.

good luck!

Re: Looking for a quick answer

Although I believe they do have final say b/c they are paying, we're going thru the same thing. She wants a certain place, but its about 30-45 minutes from the church!

Re: Looking for a quick answer

FIL's are paying but it's still your RD. I think ultimately the decision should be yours.

Re: Looking for a quick answer

it shoud be where you and fh want it! i mean, if your parents were hosting the wedding, it wouldn't be their choice in where you have your wedding, right? so why should that apply to your rehearsal dinner? i would explain his mom that you are trying to make it close to the church for the sake of oot'ers and that you would love it if you could find a place that you, fh, and she agrees on. if she really protests, tell her that you and fh will try dinner at the place and see how you like it. then tell her the food was disgusting lol. good luck! ~lacey

Re: Looking for a quick answer

Im feeling your pain. FMIL wants to have the RD at a place that is about 30 minutes away from the church. FH and I dont want it there because its too far away. PLUS, we went to dinner there a few months ago and both of us were not happy with our meals. BUT, FMIL insists on having it at this place. We havent gotten to the arguement over this (b/c Im sure there will be one), but I think that the decision should be collective between you, FH, and FILs. IMO, my parents are paying for the hall but I didnt let them pick it becuase they are paying for it. It should be mostly you and FH, but they can have an opinion. FH needs to stand up to his mom and tell her no!

Re: Looking for a quick answer

FMIL is paying for it, but we told her where to have it. I would never let her choose a place where OOT people have a problem.

Re: Looking for a quick answer

Even though your FILs are paying for it, I think you and FH should decide the place. My inlaws paid for the RD but let us pick the place, menu, etc.
