a little upset
so my bms are wearing black lazaro dresses. so I asked my mom and fi mom not to wear black as well.I guess they thought I wasn't serious b/c my mom got a black dress with a champagne color in the top and fi mom got a dress all black with little sworavski crystals on it. They are both pretty but is it going to look like a funeral. Did anyone elses mom wear black?
Is it really weird for the mom to wear black?
they think it will be nice like a black and white wedding.
but I dont think so.

Re: a little upset
I am one of those people who dislikes black for moms ... I do not think it will look like a funeral...I really do not even know where this dislike came from- If you feel strongly about it maybe you can suggest looking further, but dont let it upset you too much , most important is that she will look beautiful and be comfortable

Re: a little upset
I am sure it is important to you that your mom looks and feels beautiful! If the dresses that they picked are what makes them comfortable be happy for them, Your day will be perfect, in the grand scheme of things it really isn't a big deal what color your moms dress is! Don't stress over the small stuff

Re: a little upset
i wouldn't stress about it. My BM's are wearing black dresses and my mom got herself a black dress, as did my aunt (it makes her look slimmer). I happen to think it would look nice to have a black & white wedding. I didn't plan it, but i love the idea of it.I wouldn't worry about it. I have never been to a wedding where everyone was talking about what the mothers were wearing. Most people won't even notice.

Re: a little upset
I would not worry about it at all. Nobody is going to think that it looks like a funeral. You obviously like black since you chose it for your BMs. Black is a color that makes everyone look elegant

Re: a little upset
use flowers to bring some color into the mix - a red or a pink would look beautiful!

Re: a little upset
I was a bridesmaid in my brother's wedding and we all wore black. My SIL's mother also wore black. Everyone looked very elegant. I wouldn't sweat it.

Re: a little upset
It sounds like it will look very nice. Unless you're ready to go to war with both moms, I'd leave it alone.

Re: a little upset
You could tell them both that you hoped they'd choose another color because they are both important people at this event and wanted them to stand out. Or is it too late to buy another dress? Or are they willing to?Not for nothing, but I don't think having them in black is so bad. Just my opinion though...yours is of course the one that matters.

Re: a little upset
My bridal party is wearing black and all the mothers, steps and inlaws are going to wear black. I am okay with it but your right it might look like a funeral. The corsage should help pick up the colors.

Re: a little upset
It seems like every week there is someone upset about her mom wearing black, and ever week I do not understand it. Black evening gowns are not what someone would wear to a funeral. Black is very classy and elegant, hence the reasoning why every woman should have 'a little black dress.'

Re: a little upset
How could anyone think that having all black 'looks like a funeral'??Everyone will be smiling and looking happy and wearing flowers and having a good time - and don't forget the bride and groom being there too - nothing like a funeral! Honestly, black is a great color and looks good on everyone. It lends a touch of elegence also. I wouldn't worry about it. Noone's going to care what color your mom's are wearing because everyone's eyes will be on you!
I think it will help the pictures look really nice as well.
