NWR...need a new vacuum....which one?

Hi ladies. somehow my vacuum broke. i hated it anyway! it was so big and heavy and LOUD. so i need to get a new one asap.
I don't want to spend a fortune on something like the Dyson which i hear are very good.
WE have a VERY SMALL apartment.
Can anyone recommend a good small vacuum that perhaps doesn't make a lot of noise?

My mom mjust bought the new dirt devil and loves it. Its a little heavy but quiet . I have the Dyson and that too is amazing.
