Why would they say that?

I was over there house yesterday and I was just telling them out of excitement that there is 285 more days until the wedding! Well, my mother said to me. Don't think after you get married that things are going to be wonderful, it's just reality. I'm like gee thanks for being so positive Mom! I am very realistic, it just kinda bothered me why she would say something negative at such an exciting time as this.

So then she tried explaining herself more and was like, well people get all wrapped up in a wedding and thinking that marriage makes a miracle.. it's still the same relationship.. just two different last names and a different claim on your taxes...it's just a reality.

Expecting certain things to change in their lives.. she wants me to go into it knowing what to expect..
Well, I just shook it off, I had to vent about that sorry girls.. thanks...

Aww..... she meant well I am sure. Keep being excited about your wedding and remember the same love and work it took to get to this point is the ingredients you will need once that big day comes ! yey... .....!!!

Sometimes people speak without thinking. Most times they mean well, it just comes out all wrong.

I agree, I don't think she meant it in a hurtful way. People keep saying 'marraige is such hard work' well, RELATIONSHIPS are work, but if you're BOTH working, it doesn't have to be HARD.
