Stupid Question, please explain a digital album

I'm looking into a photographer that provides this, but I don't quite understand what it means. Do I get to print it on my own instead of having them make up albums?

This means that you can combine photographs on the same page and use more special effects. So you album looks more like a magazine and doesn't just have mounted pictures.
