Future Mother In Law From HELL!!!

Okay, it started when we told her we were engaged. She started to tell us how we're too young, too broke, too this, too that. From then on, she's been constantly putting things off.
His little sister was supposed to be a flower girl... she put off ordering the dress. Then, she decided she didn't have enough money to pay for the rehearsal dinner, so there's another thing that WE have to pay for. After that, she decided she didn't have the money to even come to the wedding. A few weeks later, she emailed us saying she had the money, but his little sister couldn't come because of school. Now, finally! She and his little sister is coming, but there's another issue.
MY FMIL is best friends with my FI's ex-girlfriend. They both go back and forth to visit every couple of weeks. And, the ex has made my life hell trying to make nice with his mother's side of the family. Now, she wants to invite the ex to the wedding. How can I get it through this crazy woman's head that the ex is not welcome???????????

It sounds like your FMIL has serious letting go issues with FH's ex. It almost seems to me like she still wants them to get back together and resents you for getting in the way.
Has your FH talked to her about this? How does he feel about his ex attending these things?

I have to be honest with you...I think it is time for your FH to step in. It is so hard to resists just blowing up at the FMIL but that would just make things worse. I think it is totally disrespectful for FMIl to even ask if the ex could come. Is she out of her mind? I really think your Fh should say something. If you you and the ex were cool, then maybe, but if thats not the case....no way!

He has said something to her. Neither one of us want the ex there. It's a mutual thing. My FH's daddy (his mom's ex husband) has even said something to her. I don't think she understands.

Well, who is sending out the invites for these things? If it is you and your family, then leave her off.
I would also think that the ex would feel totally uncomfortable being there. She probably wouldn't come even if she did get invited.
Does your FH even talk to her anymore? This whole thing sounds insane.

Oh wow! So pretty much everyone is against this but her? I mean, that alone should tell her something. Does she not have anyone else she feels she can mingle with at the wedding? Maybe that is why she wants her there....wow, even if, I still wouldn't go for it. Who is paying for the wedding, if I may ask? Is your FMIL?

Oh, god no! We're (Me, My parents, My FH, and his Father) paying for the wedding and the reception and the rehearsal. My friends are sending out the invites for the showers, so the ex won't get a formal invite, but I wouldn't put it past this woman to bring the ex anyway.

First of all I am sorry you have to go through this. But I must say this shouldn't only be your burden. Your FH should have already stepped in and addressed these issues. As a wife you have to be fair as far as approaching his family however this is out of line, disrespectful, and IMO gone too far. Your FH should without a doubt speak to his mom.

I would either have FH speak to her about it and if he didn't then I would speak to her myself and tell her exactly how I feel.

From what you've said it sounds like your sending out the invites. If you don't want someone there for a very good reason I might add, don't invited her end of story!

HE needs to step in and tell mommy hearest that it's his wedding and he doesn't want her there and she's not invited.
I agree that she probably wants them back together.
