What's rent cost?

My FH and I live in a two bedroom apartment in Dutchess County. We pay $875 a month without utilities. I heard the rent is cheaper farther north and south of us, so since most people on here live south of us, how much is your rent?

Re: What's rent cost?

Where do you live? I used to live in Poughkeepsie. My BIL and his girlfriend are paying $850 for a TINY one bedroom here in Suffolk County. My mom is paying $1400 for a really nice 2 bedroom (utilities not incl). In Dutchess I think the side of the river across from Pok. is cheaper, if I remember correctly.
Long Island and Westchester are MUCH more expensive than Dutchess. I think the Newburgh/Beacon area is cheaper.

Hey there! My DH and I live in a 1 br in Highland (Ulster county) and we are paying $875 starting April. Living up here is costing too much! However, its much better than the city. My parents rent out their upper apt in Brooklyn for 1250 a month. I could never afford that

Re: What's rent cost?

we were paying $975 for a one bedroom, living room, kitchen teeny tiny place, plus another $100 for a storage facility. the rooms measured about 8'x11'. probably would've been great for one person, with two decent sized closets, but for two of us, we were at each others neck all the time. more space, less arguing!

That's a great deal--you won't find that in Westchester. Newly renovated apartments in my buildng are listed at $1700/month for 1 bedroom about 850 square feet.

I live in Dutchess county right now and we pay about 900 for a 2 bedroom COOP. It doesnt include utilities though.

I used to live in Beacon and it was a little cheaper but the area wasnt that nice. I heard Newburgh and Columbia county were cheaper. How about Hyde Park or Red Hook??

Hyde Park and Red Hook are cute. I wouldn't venture up to Columbia County though. I love it, but you're not going to find too many apts in the area. I know there's apts across the street from my Family's house, but I believe they're full. FM me if you're interested. I can have my Dad check it out for you.
