Re: My dog ?????

try posting on the pet forum...

but i don't think there is much you can do, I have a Yorkie and we just constantly wipe away his tears...you just have to keep the area clean.

Re: My dog ?????

I have a westie.. there are drops for the eyes and also little cloths that you can use to wipe the fur... my dog hates both so we just deal with the way it looks rather than make her sad!

Hi! I'm a dog groomer and unfortunatly, there isnt much you can really do about the tear stains. You can clean them daily with those little eye wipes or even use a cotton ball and some cold water. Once the stain gets into the hair follicle, it doesn't go away. I've heard you can put your dog on antibiotics and that clears it up, but IMO it's not really worth it because then the dog has to be on it for the rest of his/her life. I've also heard changing their food or giving them distilled water helps too. Otherwise, I would just clean it daily to reduce the staining. Good luck!

Re: My dog ?????

I have a Maltese and he gets tear stains too. I found it hard to prevent. My vet told me we could try putting him on antibiotics and I didn't want to do that. There are products you can buy too, stuff from rinses to actual bleach which I wouldn't use. I just keep his eyes as clean as I can, keep the hair by tear ducts short and deal with it.
