NWR: But I need some support right now...
FH and I found out yesterday that our 2 year old has Autism. Now, I am worried about my 3 month old b/c they say it's genetic. I always knew Luke was a difficult child, but I guess I always thought he'd grow out of it. Now I know he might not. It's just so sad b/c he's such a sweet kid and he doesn't deserve this. FH is in serious denial and I just feel really alone right now...Thanks for reading...

Oh, I'm so very sorry! That is such a hard thing to hear! Your son is very lucky to have such loving parents and I'm sure that you and your FH will do your absolute best when it comes to making decisions about his future, and with couseling options. I wish you the very best of luck. I bet there is a board somewhere online for parents of autistic children. I'm sure it would really help you out. You should try to do a search.

Re: NWR: But I need some support right now...
try not to dwell on the diagnosis--i know it's easier said than done...but remember that there are soooo many different types of schooling, therapy, education today than many years ago, concerning autism. try and focus on how you will make the best of this situation! your child can still grow up to be healthy & happy!! it will just be a bit more tougher than a child w/o autism. my nephew has autism, and he's one of the more pure souls you'll ever meet. while he can be a handful at times (he's 10 now), deep down we all love him and understand.
my thoughts are with you.

I'm so sorry you heard that news. There are such varying degrees of autism, and so much can be done! The important thing is that he's loved and lovable, which I can tell he is! You are in our prayers.
