What kind of flowers work best in the hair and look the prettiest?

UGH!!! All I know is that I want a white fresh flower in my hair, next to my low bun, on the day of my wedding. But, I don't know what kind!! I really wanted a gardenia, which I have seen in bride's hair, but everyone (including my florist) tells me that it will wilt really easily. so now I am on the search for a 'spring-like' flower....looking for something a bit exotic and different.

My ideas so far (but I want your opinions too) are:

A Cymbidium orchid

A lily

What else could I use? No roses....

I personally think a white lily would be gorgeous.

I unfortunately am allergic to them so it wouldn't work for me!

The only other ones I could think of are magnolias or gardenias?

those are orchids, and they come in white also....they are beautiful, but I envision one big white flower, rather than a few smaller ones.

I like the Magnolia idea! I will ask my florist if that would work.

Re: What kind of flowers work best in the hair and look the prettiest?

If you like peonies, I think a gardenia would look great. A peony would definitely be a little too fluffly.

Plus, gardenias smell wonderful!

I love gardenia's...but it's VERY TRUE - they wilt in a matter of minutes!

Re: What kind of flowers work best in the hair and look the prettiest?

i would think a peony would fall apart. orchids are sort of waxy, so they are a little more hardy. i saw a really pretty picture of a white orchid in an up do...i think it was on the knot. i'll try to find it....
eta: the picture!
