Shower invite list?

Who typically is invited to the shower on the grooms side? My future MIL who simply could not get her guest list under 100 only has 3 people to invite to my shower??
Does that seem right?
Frankly, we just don't get along very well and have disagreed on almost everything to do with the wedding and I feel like this is just another way for her to show her feelings...

I thought it was all family members that are invited to the wedding along with any close friends? Am I wrong?

no, you are right! you make the shower list, not you mil. its great that if she can make suggestions, but i would sit down with her and the wedding guest list and go over who you feel should be invited. i did female family members (on her side its close female members and only those whom i've met) and close friends. good luck with your mil. ~lacey

it can be any female guests that are invited to the wedding. i think your fmil needs to rethink her guest list.

it can be just family or just family and close friends

as long as they are invited to the wedding then you can invite them to the shower...my wedding list is huge so obviosly not all the women will be at the shower...but you make the list!

I think she is not inviting the Aunts & Grandma that live in FL just because they most likely wont come. But how can you not invite Grandma?? We've been together for a few years so I've met these people multiple times.
I don't think I can bring it up to her b/c it's a suprise shower so I've just heard this from BM's as they knew I was kind of expecting this to happen.

I'd be concerned that some of his family may be insulted that they weren't invited to the shower. Most brides know they are going to have a shower, so the only really surprise is where and when. If you don't feel comfortable addressing this with her, you could always ask your maid of honor to do the dirty work.
