Approx. cost for DIY invites, save the dates, etc.

Hey everyone,

I'm planning to have a friend design my invites, etc., and then will be either printing them at home, or a local printer. Is there anyone that did something similar that has an approx. cost for this? I know it will depend on printing costs if we go somewhere, paper choice, etc. but I just wanted a ballpark figure. Thanks so much!

Re: Approx. cost for DIY invites, save the dates, etc.

hi kand. I'm actually doing my own invitations. I saw the invitations at party city. For a box of 25 (includes:invitation w/envelope,respond card w/ envelope) is $ 19.95. It's a personalized invitation.
I'm putting a picture of the 2 of us in the front of the invitation. It's plain yet elegant. I did the 'thank you 'cards for my engagement party, and they came out very nice.overall it's costing me just under $300.00. W/ every thing. Seal, ribbons that i will be attaching with the card.
One of my friends who is getting married this Nov, paid $1,400. for just invitations. That's a waste of money in my opinion. It's going in the garbage.
so just look into it. but go there so you can see the invitations close up.

good luck.

Hey K! I don't have a price for you, but I'd go to printers like Sir Speedy or Minuteman and ask them. Pick out a cardstock you like and ask how much it would be to print 100 or however many you need. Same with envelopes, etc.

Also, is there a printer you deal with for work? When we were getting married, the printer who did our brochures printed mine for cost! I know that's rare, but if it's someone you have a relationship with they may cut you a deal. Or maybe the person in your office who orders the letterhead, brochures, etc. can introduce you so you can ask them for a quote.

HTH!
Cathy

Re: Approx. cost for DIY invites, save the dates, etc.

I'm doing my own save the date magnets to hand out at our engagement party in July. I'm only going to be making about 60. I bought magnet paper at Staples. It a package of 4 sheets for 11 dollars. I only bought 2 so far, and that will only make 48 (5 magnets per sheet), so once i see the final count i'll go back to pick up one more package. All in all the magnets will only cost about 40-50 dollars. Alot cheaper than what i've seen 150-200 on these sites!!!
