Warning: Wedding Dress + BM's Died Shoes + Rain = Wedding Nightmare!!!

Our priest told us a semi-funny (but not if it happens to you) story about a bride he had whose whole family was crying, and whose wedding was delayed because they were all in the limo together on a rainy day and the bride's train was overlapping a BM's dyed red shoes. Well, the DYE came off ALL OVER the bride's DRESS and cause WAVES of RED on the DRESS!!!! She hadn't even walked down the aisle yet!

Just something to think about! Not that it's going to rain on ANY of our wedding days, though!......

the priest said he seriously thought someone died the way the whole family was SOBBING about the dress. The priest ended up being the DOC and sent someone across the street to get pins and they had to pin the whole dress up to hide the red so she could walk down the aisle!!! The ceremony was delayed about an hour because of it! He said when they finally began, he used it as the homily about how little things like this aren't important - it's the marriage itself that matters - and he said he realized it was a mistake because the couple looked mortified that he brought it up!!! He's a very good and funny priest!! Can you even imagine!!! I can't afford to be delayed an hour! ?!? And THE DRESS?!?!?!?!?

the pictures, all the work, the $, the emotions..........ooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh mmmmmmmmmmyyyyyyyyyyyyyy goodness.

It IS important. This is the one day you get to wear that magnificent dress and to have it ruined! Certainly the marriage is more important, but I think it was too soon for the couple to have that much perspective!

I'm keeping all of the BM shoes far from me!!!

scratch that....the BMs will wear their underwear with the white shoes so as to prevent possible color transfer from the dresses as well...in fact, we'll just have their dresses delivered a day early to the RH so i don't even have to sweat it.

EEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!! This is why I decided against dyed shoes - if they get wet - they're ruined, and let's not waste money here!!!

A friend of mine from work told me that this happened to someone that she knows. I'm telling my girls to get silver strappy sandals. This is my only request from them. I mentioned this to my MOH and she didn't like the idea, but she said if that's what I want, she'll do it.

This is why I had all of my girls wearing black strappy shoes.....I hate dyed shoes, you never get to wear them again, and they were able to wear shoes they already had that they knew were comfortable!!!

Sure, you can see the shoes in a few pictures, but if people are paying that close attention to their feet, they must have issues!!!

While we're on the subject of things that can ruin your wedding dress...I've seen two brides ruin their dresses by holding their red BOKs too close to themselves. Little red stains right in the middle of the dresses

After witnessing it the first time, that's when I decided to have a light colored BOK.
