UPDATE! Opinions needed on centerpieces! How would these look without candles?

Update on page 2. And by the way... to clarify... the price increase was to go from LOW centerpiece to HIGH centerpieces. Not JUST to add candles.

How bad am I?? Actually, me and my mom?

We went to see my sample LOW centerpiece yesterday, and mine paled in comparison to this HIGH one that was on the table next to it!!! (the one pictured) I was just staring at THIS one the whole time, and then back at mine, like... hmmm. Mine was really nothing special, even though it was what I thought I wanted. Unbeknownst to me, my mom was doing the same thing, and by the time we left, my mom and I were changing the contract to high centerpieces!

The question now is WITH candles built in AMONGST THE FLOWERS for $70 more per centerpiece or without candles built in
(they would just be at the base) for $35 more? My mom LOVES the candles, but I'm leaning towards no candles to save some some money. AND we're changing the whole color scheme of the centerpieces to match the flowers in these pictures! I'm just copying the centerpieces... they are GORGEOUS, aren't they??!!! Now, I wouldn't have flowers at the bottom, just rose petals. And John would put candles at the bottom, just not up top amongst the flowers.

John from Flower Michele (who I SOOO love... can you marry your florist??) made me promise to tell you all that these pictures are of a centerpiece that has been out for OVER a week, with dying flowers and melting candles at this point! Still looks good to me for OVER a week!!! Can you imagine? A HIGH centerpiece with DYING flowers absolutely took my breath away?!?! He REALLY must be good!! lol

Re: How many of you changed your centerpieces from low to high after seeing your sample?

Wow! Well, don't feel bad Sarah-- it happens a lot to people-- they see the high ones and they are breath-taking!

Personally, I like the candles (I know it's extra money ) but I really like the candles-- the glow adds warmth to the room, i love them!

But that's just me-- they are beautiful either way. But if that is the way you saw it then that is the way I would go b/c that's what you fell in love with.

Re: How many of you changed your centerpieces from low to high after seeing your sample?

Check if he has a diff stand? with tealights going down instead of the larger pillars....that should be less (i think) and still have candles....

Now you have me think of changing it for one w/ candles!

Re: Opinions needed on centerpieces! How would these look without candles?

both good ideas-- ask about doing tea lights instead or providing the candles yourself...

i think it's beautiful BTW-- really pretty but i don't know about changing your color scheme-- i loved your color scheme before ESP for november-- maybe discuss it with me-- FM me about it-- i'm good with colors and flowers, i could give you some suggestions-- b/c you can do the same flowers (minus the tiger lily unless you do the tiger in white)... with cremes and reds like you were going to-- b/c you were going to do a red bo-k? but then you changed it to pinks? hmm i'm confused-- i like the colors but i think it would look really rich and elegant with reds and stuff-- FM me and we'll chat-- we should get dinner soon and discuss all of this lol!

Re: Opinions needed on centerpieces! How would these look without candles?

Why not do it without candles then put a few tapered candles or tealights around it. That way, you still have the ambiance...without the $70.

Re: Opinions needed on centerpieces! How would these look without candles?

IMO, I would definitely save the money and do it without the candles. If you have votives around the base, then you'll be fine and still have the candle glow from them. Put the extra $35 per table you would have spent towards something else.

Re: Opinions needed on centerpieces! How would these look without candles?

I think if you did no candles up top but had them on the bottom with rose petals it would look so pretty. $70 is a lot per CP just for candles.

Re: Opinions needed on centerpieces! How would these look without candles?

it is NUTS what they charge for candle in a centerpiece... when you get get roughly the same candle at AC moore or michaels for 1$!!!! they already have the stand so that really shouldnt figure in teh cost!.. nuts!!!!

i LOVE candles but in this case 70+ is NUTTY!

I did my own low centerpieces florists wanted like 100 for what i was asking becuase of the candles.. i did it myself and it was about 25/centerpiece!!!!

would doing tapers be cheaper?

The centerpieces are beautiful! I don't think you need the candles especially if it is $70 more. That's nuts!

Ditto...i think the placement of the candles is actually kind of awkward. Just buy some candles at different heights and put them around the base.
