Any Leonard's of Great Neck Brides???

Hi Ladies,
I know there are plenty of Stewart Manor, Flowerfield, CB, and Westbury Manor brides, but is anyone getting married at Leonard's. If so I would like to know so we could communicate about details that only Leonards brides might know. I need all the help I can get and am so excited but have yet to meet a Leonards bride

Just like all the other brides who want to hear stories I too want the good and bad of my catering hall. I love it but want feedback (it's always good to hear about stories of your place

Thanks in advance and happy July 4th!!!

Re: Any Leonard's of Great Neck Brides???

We had our reception at Leonard's over a year ago - 4-28-01, but I'll be happy to try to answer any specific questions you might have. In addition to the search for previous posts, check the vendor rating section - I posted a long review there.

I can tell you that the chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling and white, basket weave icing was everything I dreamed it would be!

Re: Any Leonard's of Great Neck Brides???

We had the entire upstairs and it was like we were the only event there. Our bridal suite was one of the rooms up there, with a balcony.

The downstairs with the outdoor area is really nice. We saw it set up for a few events during the planning phase.

All the food is good. Hubby's family has had many events there and were never disappointed. Get the calimari for the cocktail hour! Hubby still dreams about it.

As I said before, the cake was great. (I tried to attach a picture) Our florist did the topper and gave them additional greens and buds to add to the icing flowers.

All the staff was really nice. Just be sure to follow up on any info you fax to them. They really had trouble getting the insurance info from the vendors into our files. They told me they tended to lose them! Make sure your vendors mark any faxes well with your names and the event date.

I don't think you need to go to the expense of seat covers, the chairs were nice and so are the lace tablecloth overlays.

One photo hint - in our room there were outdoor scenes and murals that were painted to look like you were looking over the countryside. The didn't stant out a lot in the room, but they ended up looking great in the back of photos so take advantage of them if you have them. Another great photo op - our photographer posed us at the balcony at the very top of the spiral stairs, looking over side by side, then he shot up from half way down the stairs - it was a fun shot.

Good luck with all your planning - you should have a great time - you've picked a good reception hall.

Re: Any Leonard's of Great Neck Brides???

I am not getting married there. However, My FH's cousin went to a wedding there this past weekend. He raved about it afterwards...

He said the place was beautiful, the food was excellent and extremely plentiful! If fact, after the cocktail hour, he was too full to eat dinner! He did not have one bad thing to say about it!

I hope I was some help. His cousin is a guy so he didn't give too many details...sorry!

Re: Any Leonard's of Great Neck Brides???

Here's a weird question-
I live in Great Neck and am getting married in Queens. For hotel rooms for the guests-where are you booking rooms? We were going to block out rooms at the Inn at Great Neck but it seems too pricey. Any suggestions???
We want to block hotel rooms in the immediate vicinity to Great Neck.

Re: Any Leonard's of Great Neck Brides???

Hi Leelee;

We used The Inn at Great Neck, and the Adria (in Bayside on Northern Blvd.) which I think is a Ramada.

The group discount at the Inn at Great Neck was a substantial discount from their regular rates, at least it was a year and a half ago, and all our guest raved. We stayed there too, since we lived in Boston at the time, and it was a great place to get ready. The lobby offers some nice backgrounds for photos too. They are small, only 80 or so rooms, so they don't offer the bride and groom a free room, but they did upgrade us to a jacuzzi room.

The service at the Adria was good too, and they were the most accomodating on the terms of reserving room blocks. There were no complaints. It is actually two buildings that are not connected, but close by, and the parking is free for guests.

There is another hotel in Great Neck, over near the train station, about a block away. They were undergoing renovations and would not quote rates, plus the manager was always unavailable and never called back. It may be worth seeing if the situation has improved, since it's been over a year since I tried to work with them.

Best wishes!

Re: Any Leonard's of Great Neck Brides???

Karen-
Thanks for your feedback! The other hotel in town is called the Andrew or something like that...it doesn't look that nice. I always pass by the Adria and it's close so we'll check it out!
Thanks again!!!!

Re: Any Leonard's of Great Neck Brides???

Hey girls: I don't know anything about the hotels, but I don't live far from them so I pass them a lot. One is called the Adria (which is a Ramada) and right across the street is another hotel called the Anchor Motor Inn.

Re: Any Leonard's of Great Neck Brides???

The Adria is nicer inside than it looks from the outside. The rooms are not that large, but they were clean and recently updated - new bedspreads, carpet, etc. Ask to see the rooms. My Mom, MOH and a BM stayed there, all in one room, when they came in for my shower (all live out of town!) and they were a bit cramped, but comfortable enough. It offers a good alternative at a lower price than the Inn at Great Neck. (I think it was about $50 a night less)

The restaurant downstairs had very good food too - we had dinner there one night.
