TYs for gifts received if the guest declines invite?

We've received some checks from some guests who cannot make our wedding. I'm sending thank you notes immediately so that they know we received them, but should I also be sending the picture thank you notes after the wedding?

Seems a little redundant to me but wanted to see what the proper etiquette was!

Thanks

Re: TYs for gifts received if the guest declines invite?

I received a check the other day from someone who wasn't able to attend our wedding but I thought we would just send them a picture thank you after the wedding and nothing now....is that OK? I am interested in what everyone says as well.

Re: TYs for gifts received if the guest declines invite?

I know people have said that, but I've always been a big fan of sending the TYs out right away. I've recieved TYs as a guest myself very late and it's a little rude, IMHO.
Then again, it depends on how long the wait is - just another few weeks isn't so bad I guess.

i would like to send my thank yous right away, but the return address on the odd-sized envelopes already says, mr and mrs. so and so, so I really don't feel right sending them out now!!

Re: TYs for gifts received if the guest declines invite?

I sent TY's out for any gifts received within 1 week of our wedding. I used TY notes w/ my maiden name and signed for my DH and I.

After the wedding, I sent about 8 pics to family members or our close friends that couldn't make it....not my mom's or MIL's guests. They probably wouldn't have been interested anyway!!

I just wrote that I thought they might want to have our pic and how sorry we were, again, that they couldn't make it.

Good luck!

Re: TYs for gifts received if the guest declines invite?

The same thing happened to us. I sent those thank you out right away. I did not wait for the official ones to come in. Those I am sending out to people that gave us gifts from the wedding.
