Re: Got Two Left Feet; Need Dance Lessons; Only 6 weeks to wedding
What style of dance are you looking for? Do you want like a choreographed thing or just the ability to do basic moves during the first dance?
If you want a big choreographed thing then I'd suggest private lessons (there's various places that do packages..the lowest $$ I've seen is $70/50 min).
If you just want the basics, FH and I took a couples-only sampler class at Dance Manhattan. It's $75pp for 1 hr/week for 4 weeks. It gives you good basics on four different styles. Basically we'd learn how to get around the dance floor, turning the corners, one spin, and one special little move (like the promenade or something).
Here's the description:
For those who’d like to study with their partner exclusively. These classes provide a great introduction to the dance standards (Foxtrot, Waltz, Salsa, Swing) and do not require participants to change partners.
These courses run on a three month cycle, A, B & C – students may start at any cycle. The material taught in each cycle is different from that which is taught in the other two cycles.
A great opportunity for couples going to a wedding or preparing for a special event or about to get married. Learn a little of everything you need to know for that special occasion. If dancing is a conversation set to music, these classes will help you on your way to building a strong vocabulary
