Calling All Newlyweds

Taking a poll, what was just about the average you would say your wedding cost you overall Excluding your honeymoon?

Re: Calling All Newlyweds

I'll jump in here.

We paid for everything ourselves (my mom bought my dress though). For our reception hall, flowers, photography (no video), 8-piece band, limos, Church fees, everything down to the do-it-yourslef programs and hotel baskets we did , I would take a guess and say we spent in the neighboorhood of $30,000. We had a total of 115 adults and 7 children for a Saturday afternoon last May.

Re: Calling All Newlyweds

Everything totaled without the honeymoon was about $28,000 for 215 people on a Sunday night this July. Luckily my parents paid for the reception and we paid for everything else otherwise we couldn't have done it.

Re: Calling All Newlyweds

ugh, I really hate to think about it, but I think we were around $5o,ooo, for a Saturday night with 225 guests.

Thats dress, flowers, band, reception, photos & video, limos, invites, gifts.

Way more than I ever wanted to spend on a wedding, yet looking back, I wouldn't change a thing.

edited to say: after parental contributions ($15,ooo) and gifts at the wedding ($2o,ooo+), it cost us <$15,ooo.

Re: Calling All Newlyweds

We paid for everything, with the exception of my gown and accessories. We had 200 + people at Flowerfield on a Friday night. The extent of the damage was (rounded off to) $60,000.
But it was worth EVERY penny.

Re: Calling All Newlyweds

$10,000 w/o honeymoon. We did have a smaller wedding, only 65 people on a Sat afternoon. We cut out a lot, no limos, bridal party. I wouldn't change this for anything, our wedding was so easy to plan, but still beautiful and meaningful.

Re: Calling All Newlyweds

Our total cost was about $45,000 for a Sunday evening wedding in June 2001. After parental gifts and contributions, we paid about $23,000 ourselves (but, these numbers include $7,000 for our honeymoon). Our total gifts received was only about $12,000.

Re: Calling All Newlyweds

We figure about 35G for a sat night in Nov. 190 people. That includes my engagement ring and wedding ring, four roundtrip plane tickets from FL to NY to get married. (we paid for DH's aunt and uncle to come)

My parents contributed between 15 & 18G. His parents are deceased.

The honeymoon was a last minute decision and it was horrible. It was only about $1500.00 bucks.
(It was a cruise)

Looking back on it I would have spent less on some things and more on others. 20/20 Hindsight!! Dont ya hate that!!! But it was one of the greatest days of my life!!!

After everything, including what our parents gave us. . . with the honeymoon. . . the whole wedding cost us $38,000. That was for a Sunday night in August with about 160 people.
Wouldn't have changed a thing!

Re: Calling All Newlyweds

And we wonder why the wedding business is so popular and competitive in this area!

I too hate to think about it all - I'd say around $35K, without HM. Maybe more, since I didn't add in cost of the smaller things, such as stamps, RD invites, etc.

Looking back, I don't regret a thing - we had the time of our lives!

Re: Calling All Newlyweds

This is my first post on the Newlywed board!

All together for a Saturday night w/o honeymoon, the wedding cost $45,000 for 140 guests....

We didn't pay for all of it ourselves!

I can't believe it...but I wouldn't change a thing!

Re: Calling All Newlyweds

We got married on a Friday night in August at the Medditerranean Manor and we spent about $30K for 104 people, that included , flowers, video, invites, dress, tux, favors, bridal gifts, limos, make-up, hair, nails, feet (ha) and DJ.

It did not include, wedding rings and honeymoon.
We did it all ourselves and only got 15K back, I don't regret the wedding but I do regret spending all that money especially when it's time to buy a house which is what we are doing now and when you add up your down payment and closing costs..OUCH it's like having a wedding all over again expect more expensive.
