09 Crashing!!! What are these Macy*s Trunk Shows?!?!

So, I dont know where I got it from, but I have on my calendar that there is one this Friday! Now, does anyone know where I can find the schedule of upcoming shows? I cant find it Its too early for me to go to this next one, but I would like to check out another in the future...

Also, I heard you can get discounts on the gowns there at these shows... Is this true? How much?? And is it worth it if Macy's is overpriced to begin with???

Thanks Girls!!!

Re: 09 Crashing!!! What are these Macy*s Trunk Shows?!?!

Hello!! I got my dress at a Macy's trunk show!! They have one every month. I think it's on their website or the Demetrios site. You can always call and they will give you more info. They give you 15% off. The dresses I tried on were $1500 or less. I think it's worth it! I heard alterations can get expensive though...Good luck

Re: 09 Crashing!!! What are these Macy*s Trunk Shows?!?!

Macy's (Demetrios) Trunk Shows

Here's the website - the main designer at Macy's is Demetrios so I assume that's what you're talking about...

Typically you get about a 10-15% discount - which can add up and I don't think that Demetrios is ridiculously expensive...

I can't tell you if it's worth it b/c I've never priced it out... sorry!

Re: 09 Crashing!!! What are these Macy*s Trunk Shows?!?!

I came across a Demetrios gown that I (Well, from the pics on the site at least)

My mom works down the block from Macys herald square so I would like to go with her one day and try on gowns there... Just didnt know if it was even worth it!

I'm assuming you can buy it there, but can choose to have it altered elsewhere right???

Re: 09 Crashing!!! What are these Macy*s Trunk Shows?!?!

just so you know its not a show, a trunk show is basically JUST getting the discount...you go to the store as you normally would, try on dresses, if you want to try on the designer having the trunk show that day you just try it on, if you decide to get IT THEN you simply just get the dress at a discount...most of the time the designer is there and will go around and meet the brides

well bridal building was popular years ago, its a little different than a regular bridal store, but you can always check it out, i think this is the one your mom is talking about...they also have video, photo, limos and all that in the building, its kind of like wedding world in commack

you can also try RK bridal in the city and Kleinfelds.

yeah ive seen alot of girls saying their mom mentions bridal building to them, and it is about 6 floors.

It was very popular then, not so much anymore. You can def stop by Rk bridal while you're in the city bc you dont need an appointment, kleinfelds you need to make an appointment to go there

Re: 09 Crashing!!! What are these Macy*s Trunk Shows?!?!

You can definitely get it altered somewhere else if you choose to do so...I also went to RK Bridal in the city b/c they carry alot of designers. It was good for a first time experience b/c you can really narrow down what you like and look good in. Good luck!!

I didn't have to pay in full and I still got the discount. I believe I put down half though.

Re: 09 Crashing!!! What are these Macy*s Trunk Shows?!?!

I got my dress at Macys in manhasset and it was during a trunk show. I got 15% to lock in the discount, but my person told me I did NOT have to keep the dress i selected. I could go back and change my mind before placing the order and STILL get the discount. I only had to put $100 down.

Plus, my bridesmaids all got 15% off their gowns.

I thought it was worth it. I will basically have to spend that 15% on alterations anyway, so it's a wash.

Re: 09 Crashing!!! What are these Macy*s Trunk Shows?!?!

this is just my opinion... but i didnt find the Trunk Show prices at macys to be that great.

You can get the same dresses for cheaper at other places on the Island.

don't get me wrong...15% off their regular price can be a lot of money... and since i made a big deal about it still being too expensive they threw in the veil and a headpeice for me.

i still wound up canceling my order b/c it's still cheaper elsewhere.
