Meaghan's 7/29/07 Wedding Review!! Swan Club, Parties Alive, *Khouloud's Beauty!!* , Flowers by Burton, Adriennes, Glenmar Studio
despite the severe thunderstorms, my wedding day was nothing short of perfect! All my vendors pretty much rocked!! Since I did so much research here, I felt it was only right to give a review!!
Mother Nature: Big Fat F
The weather forecast was shaky all weekend. IT was fine in the morning, but of course at 2pm (my church was at 3:30) it started to downpour and thunder. Oh well, what can you do. I was most disappointed that I wouldnt get pictures outside of the Swan Club. Luckily the rain let up enough so we could get a few outside!!
BM Dresses: Bridal Garden, Bethpage. A
My friend went to Bridal Garden for her BM dresses (i was her MOH), so I knew they had good serivce and prices. We picked the Alfred Angelo Separates - my girls loved that they could pick their own top, and Alfred Angelo makes a maternity dress (my sister had a baby two weeks before!!
Junior BM Dresses. Davids Bridal. A
I didnt want to spend a ton of money. Davids Bridal. $99. They looked cute, thats all I needed!
My Dress: Adriennes. Purchase A, Alterations B-
I loved working with Sophia at Adriennes. She was very patient, I tried on a ton of dresses at other places and she knew exactly what would look good on me. Then I read reviews on here and freaked. I had nothing but a wonderful experience during my purchase. Alterations also went well (Nancy was my seamstress). They didn't get an A because if you notice in some of my pictures, the dress starts to crease under my boobs! Im not sure if its their fault or not, but I needed the top taken in, and they took it in a little too much. It was snug, but a little too boobalicious for me! Also they mismeasured me for the hollow to hem (it was too long), but they were able to have it fixed in pleanty of time. Thats why I ordered my dress a year in advance!
Church. St. Kilian's Farmingdale. (I can't rate a church!)
My childhood church...its a really pretty church. The organist is a little hard to get a hold of, but what a nice guy. He is really into the wedding music. The only thing that I was disappointed in was that for $750, I should be allowed to throw rose petals. but it rained anyway!!
Invites: ME!! A++++
I rocked my own invites. I dont have a picture, but I used www.LCIpapaer.com for the cardstock and www.cardsandpockets.com for the pocketfolds. People couldnt believe I made them myself! I also made matching menu's and programs. They were both very fast in shipping.
Flowers. Burton's. A+
I could care less aboug flowers. I loved that Burton's was one price for whatever flowers you wanted. When I went back to pick my flowers, Mike told me what would look good, I said sure, and he delivered! And they were cost effective, which I liked!
Limo: Ultimate Class Limo. A+
On time, clean, nice drivers, what else could you want??
Reception: Swan Club. Planning. B+, Day Of A++++
DH's siblings all had their wedding at the Swan Club, so he really had his heart set on it. It is a beautiful location with awesome food, nice rooms, and a price that is unbelievable! Our BM was Jordana. She was great, always available, called you right back, etc. Our Maitre'd was Christian. The planning grade is due to him not calling us back when we needed him. I would call (mind you, we booked 12/05 and besides us mailing our payments in, he did not hear from us until we chose our menus!). I was feeling like we werent important to him. But the Day Of he certainly made up for it! He was everywhere, everything was set up perfect. Everyone loved the food, I would have my wedding there again in a heartbeat. And don't worry fellow Swannies, the cake was fabulous!!
DJ. Parties Alive. A
We met with a LOT of DJs, one cheesier (i felt) than the next. A friend booked with Richie for his May 2007 wedding, so he told me to go see him. We booked him as soon as we met him. He wasn't our MC (and I forgot who our MC and DJ was) but they had the dance floor going all nite, and didn't make one mistake. And they gave us a CD at the end with songs from the wedding!!
Photographer/Videographer. The Glenmar Studio. A++++
They were awesome! Arthur was our photographer. He was late getting to my house, but it wasn't his fault, it was mother natures. So I would get the cell phone # of your photographer just in case!! We have a ton of awesome proofs..They didn't miss a moment. I can't wait for the video!!
And of course....LIW...A++++++++++++++++++++
I don't know what I wouldnt have done without the advice of my fellow brides!!!
Hair....*Khouloud's Beauty!!* A++++++++++++
I cannot believe I forgot to mention Kacey!!! She was my saviour! I had booked my SIL's stylist 6 months before. I said I needed two girls, and she said not to worry, she would bring someone. well, three weeks before the wedding she said she couldnt find anyone. So I had to ditch her and find two new people! Kacey came to the rescue. Everyone loved their hair, and mine stayed curly all (humid) night long! kacey and rosemarie ROCK!!

Sorry you had crappy weather but i looove the pic of you coming out of the limo w/ the umbrellas...and your outdoor shots look beautiful with the mist!!!! Glad you had a great day despite it!! Congrats!!
