NWR - Neighbor gets scammed!!! (Now with Pics) UPDATED... OOPS!

So, this afternoon, the mail comes through the slot. I grab it, and there is an envelope from India, addressed to another name, my address. I quickly open the door to give it back to the mail lady, and, Captain Pull Ups' mom is talking to her.

She says, 'Do you have a check for me?'

Mail lady: 'No.'

'Well, I am waiting for a $5000 check, I've called everyone, and I don't know what to do.'

ML: 'Oh.' And she walks away.

I quickly go back in, and call FH so we can laff and laff. This lady doesn't leave her house, with the exception to harrass our local supermarket.

FF to just now, FH comes home..... and says:

'She just caught me outside. She said, 'I'm waiting for the police,'.' Now, FH hates talking to her more than me, and will generally just ignore her, or give one word answers as he continues walking, but, he was intrigued.

He goes on:

'She said that she was waiting for a check she won from a TV show. She gave them all her information, SS # probably bank info (if she even has a bank account).... etc... and now they refuse to release the check.'

WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU THINK A TV SHOW WOULD RANDOMLY GIVE YOU $5K????

Holy identity theft, batman. I don't even feel bad for her, how can anyone be so stupid???


****UPDATE****

The Lord hath punished me.

Last night, FH and I were playing poker, and I'm telling the story to one of our friends. I'm all animated, and like, 'She's such a moron. I don't even feel bad for her... etc.'

The guy on the other side of FH says.... 'Wait, are you talking about so and so?'

I said, 'Yeah, I guess.' ( I have no idea what her last name is).

He didn't catch the whole story, but, he said that his girlfriend is friends with her, and he had heard about it. Apparently it was on the show 1 VS 100. Which, if that's the case, sounds REALLY weird...... IDK.

But.....

That would be awesome.. You could always get a friend to knock on her door with some balloons and a camera and a big fake check and make like hes from the 'tv show'.

That's how I roll.

First, I tried climbing on a chair to look through the tiny glass windows we have at the top of the door. I narrowly escaped being caught.

Wow- I kinda feel bad for her, but kinda dont b/c she is annoying.

Maybe now she wont be able to afford pull ups for her kid and will have to potty train him
