Re: pre-k/ kindergarten teachers

I taught Pre-K and now teaching K..I'm big into CD's like Lori Berkner (who sings on Noggin) and I just bought 2 CD's, one called 'All Day Long' and the other called 'Kiss Your Brain' By Dr. Jean. I haven't used those yet but all the kids are familiar and Love Lori Berkner.
I listened to the Dr. Jean CD's and they are really cute and educational at the same time.

Re: pre-k/ kindergarten teachers

I am a dance teacher does that count? I teach 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 year olds.

Some of the songs I was thinking were from my childhood. The Hello Song from the show The Magic Garden. Do, Re, Mi from The Sound of Music. Bend and Stretch from Romper Room.
Flopsy from Romper Room.

FM me if you need anymore help. I hope that I helped you out a little.

We have a theme for every month at my school, does yours? September is always 'all about me'. Perpetualpreschool.com is a great site for ideas, with art projects, songs, stories, games, snacks, etc, organized according to theme. HTH!

Re: pre-k/ kindergarten teachers

There is a song called 'The Parade of Colors', our kids really enjoy it (sorry I don't know who sings it). You walk around in a circle to the music and he has you all sit down and then says, 'green stand up, pink stand up, white and yellow stand up, green sit down, etc... and then you walk around again). It' cute!

Re: pre-k/ kindergarten teachers

when i was teaching preschool we used a lot of songs from Noggin. I didnt pick the songs, the school did, but some of the kids faves were from The Backyardigans.
Also, i've always loved songs from the Elephant Show, and from Romper Room and Sesame Street.
Also, i can't remember the name of the show right now.. but it was on Nick Junior when i was younger...
and there was a giant Pollywog on the show, and the kids went to the nature preserve...shoot... i cant remember the name, but they had GREAT songs about sharing, and stuff like that.

as did Alegra's Window and Eureka's Castle if you can find those songs online or something.

Re: pre-k/ kindergarten teachers

If you're looking for music, definitely pick up a Greg and Steve CD! 'Kids in Motion' is good, obviously, for gross motor activity and the 'We All Live Together' CDs have great circle-time songs.

this is what we follow as well...a great project we do is get large while paper and trace the kids and than we cut it out an let them decorate themselve however they want...with yarn, paint, crayons, whatever they want to use in our art center...the kids really love it... its a great project to show how different everybody is...also there is a great book w/ song called 'we all sing with the same voice' by J. Phillip Miller and Sheppard M Greene...this story goes great with the project.. good luck hope this helps...
